On The Water

Cardz 4 Guyz newest challenge is On The Water. This is my favorite go to for masculine cards.

This is kind of a dark and stormy card. Not too wild about a sailboat in calm waters, sure I would not like one in a storm. The background patterned paper is from Craft Consortium called Craft Papers, Ink drop Monochrome.. All the papers are black or gray marble with metallic veins.  This paper is one of the grays with silver veins. I sponged some pink towards the top to look like a bit of a sunset behind the brewing storm clouds. Then sponged blue across the bottom for the water. The sailboat is an old Stampin' UP! one, stamped and fussy cut and popped up on foam squares. Carrying out the water theme, I mounted it on SU!'s Pool Party.

Happy Celebration

Wow! Another month as just flown by. This is the last Tuesday in July and time for the new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketcches

One of the cards from Stampin' UP!'s Bright and Beautiful Memories and More Card Pack has 3 Happys on it. It was 3x5 and I trimmed it down to a 3" square.

I picked up 2 of the colors in happy for the 2" squares and matted them all onto black to make them pop. The background white is embossed with squares from an E/F by cuttlebug. Then the yellow was used for the card back. I popped up the center square with foam tape.

Just a fun happy card. This could be used for birthdays, congratulations, or just for a happy day.

I hope you find some time to check out the designer inspirations and link up your own creation.

Birthday Humor

Hey there, welcome to a new Tuesday Morning Sketches

I love the birds from From The Heart digi stamp collection. Unfortunately, the company has closed.

I colored the image with SU blends. The papers are from my stash. I have been making real progress on using up old papers. The birthday hat is from Newton's Nook, colored and fussy cut. I added 2 purple pearls where the sketch indicated 2 accents.

Inside is the real humor of the card. I added 2 balloons and colored them.

Happy Birthday

Using the sketch by Sketch Saturday I have a birthday card for the pink and purple girls.

I used scraps  of retired papers from SU!. The image is also SU! I added gold star gel pen to the lights on the candles.

Sailing under the Stars

Today I am sharing a card for Can You Handle the Pressure, with a twist of stars. I chose stars as the embossing folder to use.

The stars E/F is from Stampin' UP! After embossing, I winked all the stars for a little glow. A few months ago I purchased a pack of handmade papers and decorative netting from a Facebook ad. I can't remember the company name. I used the aqua crimped paper and aqua netting over that to make the water. That detail may show better if you enlarge the picture. The sailboat is also SU stamped and fussy cut.. 3 shell stickers accent the lover corner mainly so I could put some adhesive on the netting to hold it in place. The sentiment is SU, stamped and fussy cut. Reminds me of those banners you see floating in the sky at the beach.

Christmas for the Guys

Cardz 4 Guyz is challenging us to make Christmas cards for guys. I suppose most designs for Christmas cards for guys would be appropriate as long as there is not a lot of flowers or ribbons. Here is my design.

Black is a totally unexpected choice for a Christmas card. I purchased a pack of Ink Drops Monochrome paper by Craft Consortium. I'm not sure what I was thinking but I just liked the marble look. They are all blacks and grays with different metallics.  When I got t it home, I stared at it and couldn't think of a design so I just put it away.
So when this Christmas card challenge came up I decided to see what I could do with it. The black and gold looks like a starry night sky. So I am thinking a manger scene. The bold black and gold veining calls for a simple design. This image is DeNami Designs. I wanted just a halo effect for the nativity scene so die cut the same size circle and put it on the upper edge. 3 punched stars are scattered about the sky and 1 more above the manger. The sentiment is SU! embossed with gold and then fussy cut.
I think I will make more of these to use for the church staff Christmas cards.

Bright Note

Welcome to Tuesday Morning Sketches new sketch for the week.

This is another one with a card from Stampin' Up! Memories and More Bright and Beautiful card pack.

I switched up to a portrait orientation. I just went through the scrap box to find pieces that had the same colors as the ones on the card. The sentiment is also SU, stamped and fussy cut.

Pink Flower

It is amazing what you can find when you clean and straighten your craft room. I found a bag of paper flowers that I don't even remember purchasing. This pink one is perfect for 2 cards from Stampin" UP!'s Bold and Beautiful Memories and More Card Pack.

To soften it up, I added a square Vellum doily behind the flower. If you look closely you can see there is a  doily pattern on the card. I left off the sentiment so I can decide later how I want to use it.

For Let's Craft and Create. challenge--add a flower.

Spectacular

My brother-in-law is 85 next week. You know at that age, we just have to laugh at our birthdays. He has a great since of humor so I know he will like this one.

I colored a From the Heart digital stamp with Stampin' Up! blender pens. Then I picked up the colors of the image for the layers--turquoise, lime, yellow. I used a large dot E/F for the green layer to copy the large dots on the bird's pants. Inside, I did a computer sentiment that says "have a spectacular birthday"

Entering the challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz #325, keep it simple.
