A "Whaley" Good Day

Just a fun cheery card to share today for the challenge at Shopping Our Stash #455--here fishy fishy

I used an unlabled whale E/F and then cut it in half as I only wanted the whales on the bottom. I sponged on some SU Balmy Blue lightly over that piece. I did the sentiment on the computer and trimmed that down to fit the top half. The whale is a Stampabilities stamp, stamped on a scrap of white and sponged partially wit the Balmy Blue and SU s Basic Gray. I fussy cut the whale and popped it up with foam tape. I then mounted that on a Balmy Blue card stock. I added some clear sequins in the water for a little bling.

No Dirty Dishes Day

Hooray! May 18 is No Dirty Dishes day--more on that later.  Not only no dirty dishes for me, I am seriously considering letting someone else cook also. So I am spending the time saved by doing something fun with this cute dancing chick.

Digital image is From The Heart (now out of business). Sentiment is from a sign I saw in a gift shop. I traced over the word sparkle with a clear gel star pen. The pattern paper is by Recollections. I used a Fiskar border punch for the shiny purple scallops. Bling added with pink and gold sequins. I used some clear glitter glue to add sparkle to the tutu.

Inside I did a computer sentiment, stamped a tiara (unlabled) and colored it with gold gel star pen.

Entering in a couple of challenges

Double Trouble Challenge:

Thing 1:  Trouble Maker
says, "Did you know that May 18th is "No Dirty Dishes Day"? This special day encourages people to take a break from doing dishes for the day and spend the time saved doing things for FUN.  So, let's keep your sink happy, use paper products and do your part by saying NO dirty dishes today!
So... for FUN use some patterned paper from your stash and create an any-occasion girly girl project."

Thing 3:  Twisted Sister
says, "What! No Dirty dishes for only a Day?  My sink is used to being piled up just like my stash.  So let's choose some embellishments and/or bling (glitter, gems, sequins, ribbons, flowers, etc.) from your stash, and don't be afraid to pile it on your girly-girl project."

Optional Twist:  If you have included embellishments and/or bling on your project you will earn another chance for our Random Draw. Thing 2:  Double Dare
says, "If you have met Trouble Maker's girly girl requirement, with or without bling, you are eligible to enter your project HERE  for the Stinkin' Inkers Challenge "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun".  This is a monthly challenge and DTC will be participating starting Monday, May 17th through Sunday, May 30th.

Squash It Challenge

I guess they are called challenges because they are meant to challenge us. Let's Squash It challenge Let's Make Space and Bring on the Bling did just that for me. I searched my E/Fs and found only one that leaves blank space.

The tree and leaves are a Darice E/F

I used colored pencils on their side to lightly add color to the tree and leaves. It is hard to tell but I used a light yellow pencil on the background behind the leaves to give a little sunshine glow. The bottom has some sponged on green and old stamps of stems and flowers. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!

The bling comes in as SU sequins--light green in the tree and a few orange ones as flower centers.   Sigh!, after I was done, I noticed a green ink smudge by the flowers so I fixed that with a punched butterfly.

This is all on a SU Pool Party cardstock to give a sky background.

A Day at the Beach

I am certainly ready to schedule some beach time. How about you? I think our little penguin is hanging on to his last little bit of summer before winter sets in in Antarctica.

The penguin and palm tree are from My Favorite Things. The flip flops from Lockheart Co.  They were all colored with SU blends and fussy cut. The sand and water stamp has lost its label. The sun is from SU Waterfront. The cloud punch is Fiskar. The sentiment is also MFT that is cut and mounted with foam tape to remind you of the flying banners you see at the beach.  I brushed on some blue sky and yellow glow about the sun. I think little penguin had better get out of the water and slather on some sunscreen. I used a small make up brush to brush on some blush to his belly

Whew! Made just shy of the deadline for Make the Cards Challenge

Using Scraps

Forever on the quest to use up scraps of patterned paper. Do you buy packs of paper, use a few sheets and then stow the rest for sometime later--way later?  I have been going through my file box of 12x12 patterned papers and making an effort to use some of them. Of course, that is to make room for more!

This paper is retired a couple of years ago from SU called Bird Ballad. The tree branch in the die cut oval scallop is an old one called Cherry Blossoms but doesn't have a manufacturer. I slightly colored them with Pool Party since the blossoms in the background paper have a blue tint. The hello sentiment is also SU.  In the Bird Ballad pack was a sheet of all birds. I cut them all out with the Scan 'n Cut so I have them ready when I want a bird accent.

Father's Day

Time to get started on Father's Day cards. I make several to sell at a local co-op.

The scene was created with SU Waterfront stamp set. It is so easy to make watercolor scenes with it. The paper is Boho Indigo Medley. The sentiment is also an old SU.  I added 2 strips of raffia and a gold scrap embossed with a Cuttlebug argyle foil.

Not Done with Frogs

I think there is a frog plague going on in my craft room. LOL! This is my 6th frog card this week. I am having so much fun creating cards with the frogs from retired SU So Hoppy Together stamp set.

I am sorry I missed Shopping Our Stash challenge Rainbow Connection. The first thing that popped into my mind was The Muppet Movie. Now I have that refrain stuck in my head "the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and me."

Double Trouble Challenge fun challenge this week includes, Thing 1: a fun fold. Thing 3 include a frog in honor of  Frog Jumping Day on May 13. Thing 2 Double Dare is enter at Crafting Happiness Challenge which is also celebrating frogs.

I tam calling this an off center gate fold. On the right section, I added rainbow colored scraps from the stash. On the left, I did a background with butterflies and bees also from the SU stamp set. I colored the frog with SU blend pens and die cut it with an oval die. And added google eyes because every frog needs google eyes right? The sentiment is also retired SU and is die cut with an SU speech bubble die. Inside, I added a blank insert stamped with the bees up in the corner.

Linking to Make the Cards Challenge which is also having a 1, 2, 3

3 embellishments-tiny blue sequins at the frog's feet to add sparkle to the water, 2 die cuts--oval and speech bubble, 1 stamped image--frog.

When my son was a toddler, I had a poem in his room that said something about boys with a frog in their pocket, so I think this also meets the challenge at The Paper Players, cards for boys.

Have a fun Frog Jumping Day
