Tiles and Textures

Wow, Tuesdays roll around quickly. Time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This one is pretty easy. Open to a lot of interpretation. Have fun.

Pretty papers and textures can be all you need.

I've had this final piece of this SU! DSP laying out for awhile. Continuing the effort to use up scraps I decided it is time to use it. The e/f folder is also SU. It is a full 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I trimmed the paper down after embossing. I think it kind of matches the tile pattern in the DSP, The sentiment is an old one from my stash. Blue gems anchor the sentiment strip.

Best Dad

Csrdz 4 Guyz challenge this week is CAS (clean and simple).

i used a bamboo stamp, retired from Stampin" UP! for the background. The sentiment is from my home Hallmark program, typed on my computer with Herculanum font (Mac computer).   And that is it. Guess that makes it pretty clean and simple.

Inside another computer made sentiment and a bamboo stalk.

This could also be a great birthday card for a Dad.

Red/White/Blue

Our local high school colors are red white and blue. I usually make a few cards in that theme for graduates I know. The team name is stars. So I have combined them all in one card.

I am using the newest sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches and actually was very literal in my interpretation.

I found the red and white stripe paper in my stash. I decided it needed toning down a bit so I stamped a Time Holtz world map on it. The rest is pretty simple: a strip of blue, red and white tags, and 3 die cut gold stars. Tied all together with red yarn. Not quite sure where to put a sentiment. I may just add a grad cap sticker on the big star.

Check out the design team inspiration. Share your interpretation with use. Your are free to change the orientation, shapes, etc. just so we recognize the sketch.

Playing in the Rain

A fun card for Send A Smile 4 Kids

Card stock colors are SU's Sea Foam and Pool Party. The cloud E/F is Darice. I swiped a white ink pad over the clouds to highlight the edges.

The pig, stamp, and sentiment are from SU's Playing in the Rain bundle. The large punched cloud was sponged with some Pool Party. 3 punched pink flowers grow at the bottom of the stump. Embellishments of 3 rain drop stickers are from my stash, no label.

The design is a sketch from Sketch Saturday

Photography

A new Tuesday and time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to get back in the craft space and make a card using our sketch.

It will be fun to see your intrepretation.

I did a wavy, water scheme,

The image is a Google clip art. The wavy e/f and die cuts are from SU! This is for my son-in-law who has a birthday this month. He is a photographer and works as a media specialist for his church. I was inspired to use a camera by a blogger friend Cheryl at Paper Panacea. I used her sentiment also which she did on the computer. I also added more of the waves inside.

I hope to see your creations on our blog this week.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

this is a family photo my SIL took a couple of years ago. He has a iPhone app so he can set up the picture, come join the group and trigger the camera with his phone. It is fun to look back and see how much the little ones have grown.

Kraft/Navy/Red

This weeks challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is to use kraft, navy, and red.

I often use Kraft as a card base for masculine cards. And a nautical theme.

The base of course is Kraft. Then a navy mat. I found the red and white strip in my scraps. The red and white kept screaming circus to me. Not what I wanted. So I used a Tim Holtz compass stamp and stamped it in several places over the stripes. Much better. Then 2 die cut tags tied with twine. I stamped an old unlabeled compass on the kraft one. The little sailboat is also an unlabeled one. It is fussy cut and attached to the tag corner. I left off the sentiment. I can always add one later when I decide to send it.

Lavendar

I am working on a set of cards to donate to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services for a silent auction. I've used the Perrenial Lavendar DSP by Stampin' UP! on all of 10 with each one a little different layout. On one of them I used the sketch from Try A Sketch on Tuesday

Crumb Cake card stock. The heather layer is embossed with a floral e/f from Cuttlebug. The sentiment is an old one from SU punched out with a label punch. Accents are a strip of lavendar ribbon and 3 gemstones.

Inside is a stamped sentiment and an accent of a lavendar sprig from Tim Holtz dies.

Here is the sketch.

Blurry Vision

Oh Wow! How can it be April already?

It is the first Tuesday in April and is time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches Mellsa always brings us a fun one.

I admit this one stumped me a bit. I looked through my scrap box for some inspiration. Finally decided on several patterns of b/w.

I die cut deckle edge circles from each pattern Then played around with them until I liked the arrangement. The sentiment is done on the computer and popped up on dimensionals. The glasses are an Impression Obsessions die. I used a red glitter pen to color around the red glassed to give them some sparkle.

Inside has the good news part of the message, also die cut with a deckle circle and backed with a polka dot paper.

I hope you accept our challenge and create something to share with us.

Daisies

 Happy Birthday to me!

I have arthritis in my hands and shoulders and have been wanting an electric die cut machine for quite a while. When I told my woodworker husband (who seems to buy a new tool for every new project) that I needed a new tool to replace a 12 year old one and he was all for it. I can tell you, so far, I love it.

Using the die cutting and embossing features, I made this card.

The turquoise papers are leftovers. A few years ago, Stampin" UP! had some DSP that had an overall bird design. I spent one afternoon fussy cutting all the birds from one of the sheets. Now I have a bird handy when I need it. I used an SU punch for the small daisies. An old sentiment from my collection die cut with an SU label die. The e/f is from Cuttlebug. I think it is actually poinsettias but they do look a lot like daisies.

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday

Lots of challenges for this one.

Can You Handle the Pressure use any embossing folder with a twist of adding a bird.

Tulip Bouquet

Spring has arrived in southern Indiana, tulips, daffodils, flowering trees.  Achoo!--allergy season has also arrived. Good excuse to stay inside in the craft room.

Last Tuesday of March and a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. Here is my tulip bouquet card.

The background paper is SU!s Forever Love Suite DSP. I looked closely to see that tulip was written in the script so decided it called for a tulip bouquet. There are gold specks on the paper so I used gold foil paper for backgrounds. The tulip is an old unlabled stamp. They are colored with Stampin" UP! blends. I free hand cut the stems and leaves. The lace is from the stash. The sentiment is done on the computer.

I hope you have some time to spend in the craft room to create and share with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Let's Ride

Fun times for a little guy to give his dog a ride in the wagon.  But I hope he doesn't get a ticket for parking so close to a hydrant.

This is for Cardz 4 Guyz #434 Dogs or Puppies and for Send a Smile 4 Kids  cards for boys.

The wagon stamp is from Judi Kins. The dog and hydrant from Great Impressions. These are both old stamps so I don't know if they are available anymore. The dog and hydrant are on the same stamp. I cut them apart to use here. The coloring is done with Stampin" Up! blends and star gel pens. The road marks are an SU grunge stamp. I blended some blue sky for background. The strip paper is from the stash.

I left off the sentiment as Send a Smile 4 Kids often asks for no sentiment so they can use them for any occasion.

Study in Greens

A new Tuesday, a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. As always feel free to change orientation and shapes. Just so we recognize the general sketch. Have fun with this one.

The world is beginning to green again so I guess I am in a green mood. I changed the orientation to landscape.

The green papers are from Stampin' UP! I punched a row of pine trees with  an SU punch.

I didn't want a lot of contrast for the sentiment so I stamped the hi with dark green. There is no die cut for it so I fussy cute it and then did 2 more in black so there would be more dimension. It is really camouflaged. You may have to enlarge the picture to really see it.

Then I decided I should make one more true to the sketch. So I did a chain of daisies with gold sprigs behind them.

U ROCK

Tuesday, a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I have a fun card for a teenage boy or girl who plays guitar.

And surprisingly, I very closely followed the sketch design. The patterned paper is the new Rock "n Roll DSP from Stampin' Up! I broke out my old deckle scissors to trim the red card stock. The letters are die cuts from Tim Holtz.
This will be a great card for Send A Smile 4 Kids
I hope you are inspired by our sketch and find time to create this week to create and share with us,

Flower Garden

Sharing a card today for Cardz 4 Galz challenge to use some green.

The patterned paper is from SU's Perennial Lavender. There are beautiful flower garden prints. I picked up a green from the pattern for the card base.

Behind the patterned paper is a strip of light purple to anchor everything together. I cut a 5"x4" pattered paper, then cut strips of each end. The center piece is glued to a scrap cardstock and popped up on foam tape. The sentiment is an old one from the stash and punched out with a label punch by SU. I added a gold edged purple ribbon behind the label.

This card is CASED from this card by Brian King

Big Letters

Cardz 4 Guyz new challenge is "Use a Letter in your Design" I think I overachieved this time. I have used 5 big letters.

My big letters making the shaped card are from The Stamps of Life. You can find it here. Check out their store, they have so many cute dies. I have used the happy die for several occasions.

The patterned paper is from SU. I snipped birthday from a stamped sentiment and backed it with black. The 3 birthday hats are from Newton's Nook.

Inside, I did a computer sentiment and then die cut it with the background die (the one I used on the red). I repeated the 3 party hats inside.

Masculine Thank You

Do you need a thank you card for a man?

Even though the paper has polka dots, I think it i subtle enough to be masculine when paired with the other elements. The sprigs are a die cut from SU. The sentiment is from my collection of thank you sentiments, no label. Tying raffia and attaching to sprigs also adds to the masculine feel.

Entering this at Let's Craft and Create challenge of Anything Goes and/or thanks.

Ready for Spring

The new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

We are into March and there have been some days giving a hint of spring. It put me in the mood to make a spring card.

I've used green and yellow cardstock. The green is embossed with a Cuttlebug E/F. Do the curves remind you of butterfly flights? The ivy vine is from the retired SU Quite Curvy set. I punched 2 butterflies from a scrap of yellow marble texture paper. I attached the butterflies with glue dots and then placed mini-dimensials under the wings to hold them up. The sentiment is an old one from my thank you stash of stamps.

I hope you will find inspiration from our sketch and share your creation iwth us.

Serene Scene

Whoosh!! Did you feel that? January and February have just whooshed by. The last Tuesday in February and time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. This sketch comes with a little twist--use brush strokes as those two rectangles on the bottom.

A lot of versatility with this one. Feel free to change the shape or orientation.

I switched from landscape to portrait.

The reason I did portrait was the lightly scripted paper. I only had this one piece left from the Forever Love DSP by Stampin' Up! My "brush strokes" are made with the SU! Waterfront stamps to make the water along the bottom in 2 tones of blue. The trees on the square are from the same set. I think what I like about this stamp set is the watercolor look. The sentiment is unlabeled in my birthday greetings box.

Inside is a computer made sentiment and more water across the bottom.

I hope you are inspired by our new sketch and find some time this week to create and share.
