Fun Folds

I am playing today with The Paper Players tic tac tie grid. I chose the bottom row--Birthay, fun fold, sparkle.

I have a granddaughter who has her 16th birthday this month. Her card features a 2 pocket card.

I used a two sided DSP from Stampin' Up! for the pockets. The back inside card is the same paper with the stripes going the opposite direction. I colored and fussy cut a set of the flowers from the trimmed piece and added punched leaves behind it. The sentiment is also SU!. Be sure you put it high enough it will show when the card is inserted in the pocket. To make the pull outs easier, I added some red sparkly ribbon. I also added sparkle with a clear gel pen on the Celebrate. You can add a pocket at the bottom for money or gift card. Or leave the insert blank to write a message. Then you glue it all to a single layer A2 card base. Or you can add it to a folded A2 card with a white insert to have room inside to write a message.
Here is what the inserts look like.

You can either write a message below the birthday wishes or on the back of the insert.

Equal opportunity for the boys.

I CASEd my blogger friend Cheryl on Paper Panacea. Thanks Cheryl for the inspiration.

Pretty Butterflies

So here we are, the last Tuesday of April. That is 4 months gone already this year. How can that be? That makes it time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I love butterflies. This card really shows that with an e/f from Recollections as well as a die cut butterfly.

I wanted a spring looking card so I used  blue, yellow, and pink inks to brush over the raised portions of the butterflies. Then I picked two of the colors to make a banner and stamped it with a sentiment from Stampin' Up!. The wavy lines makes me think of butterflies flitting about. To give the sentiment a little sparkle, I filled in the letters and traced the lines with a clear gel star pen. Instead of the square on the sketch, I used a die cut butterfly. The black dots are Nuvo.

You know on the sketch, you can use any shapes just so the general sketch is portrayed. I look forward to what you can create with this sketch.

Ducks in a Row

It pays to occasionally pause and clean your craft supplies. I did that just this week and discovered a lot of papers I had forgotten about. One of them was a sheet with rows of yellow ducks.

I needed some baby cards for the co-op where I sell cards. These cute ducks were just what I needed.

This will be good for a shower when the sex is not known. The paper is from The Paper Studio. Pastel colors from Stampin' UP! are Soft Sea foam, Pool Party, Pale Papaya. I used an E/F by Sizzix that looks like waves. The sentiment is an old one in my stash. 3 clear sequins add some sparkle.

I found the sketch from Sketch Saturday that is perfect for the rows of ducks.

Also for Can You Handle the Pressure challenge of using an embossing folder with a twist of baby theme.

Zebra

We are back with a new sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I have been busy with Easter cards, tea party favors, cards for a silent auction. I have been neglecting the cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids. So today I am sharing a cute zebra card I made for the kids.

That silver shiny zebra patterned paper is from Stampin" Up!'s Like An Animal paper. I used "grass scissors" to make a mane of black. However it didn't show up on the black so I backed it with a red strip. You may have to enlarge the photo to see it. Carrying on with the red theme, I used red/white twin and backed the image with a red circle. The zebra is from SU! retired set Zany Zebras. I left of a sentiment so the hospital can use this for whatever occasion they need.

We love going to zoos, but especially like the drive-thru safaris. We were going along feeding the animals when this zebra decided he wanted more. Stuck his head in the car window and opened wide.

I hope you will join us at Tuesday Morning Sketches and share your creation with us.

Mother's Day Flowers

Every Mother loves flowers on Mother's Day. Some want a cut bouquet. Often they want the annuals to plant in the yard.

I've been working on Mother's Day cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids. Need to be getting them into the mail so there will be time to get them sent out to children's hospitals.

I really like making them because I can use all my pretty flowered patterned papers. This paper is from the free paper from Stampin" Up!

I didn't want to cover up the flowers so I used deckle edged dies to cut 2 frames and glued them at an angle. The emphasis here is on the flowers so I used a small sentiment from SU!

Pink & Gray

This month's challenge at Let's Craft And Create has the option of using pink and gray. I really like this combination of colors so had to give it a try.

The design papers are from Stampin" Up!'s Delicate Desert. They are the opposing side of the same paper. I used a deckled edge die to cut the pink piece. The silhouette stamp is from Nature's Harvest. The sentiment is a retired stamp from SU. I added 2 pink gems to anchor the sentiment.

Flowers for the Galz

Cardz 4 Galz challenge is spring flowers. What better place for some pretty flowers than on a Mother's Day card.

The flowers are from Stampi' UP! Hand Penned Flower stamp set. There is also a coordinating die set. I colored the flowers with Stampin' Blends. The soft yellow background is retired paper from SU. I cut a frame from deckle edged dies and layered it over some vellum. The sentiment is also from SU!

Birthday Numbers

Cardz 4 Guyz has a fun a fun new challenge up to use birthday numbers. All my friends are at the age where we just have to make fun of our birthdays. So I thought this old Stampin" Up! birthday stamp would fit the challenge. I couldn't decide on one number so I just use them all.

The sentiment is computer made and die cut with a label from SU!. The inside has an original computer made sentiment. As this one is for a guy, no extra embellishments. But on more feminine cards,  I have colored in the numbers with bright colors and would use brighter cardstock and some sequins.

So Happy Birthday for whatever number you want to claim you are.

Pastel Rainbow

Welcome to a new Tuesday Morning Sketches. This sketch will run for 2 weeks because we are collaborating with Double Trouble Paper Crafting   It has the added requirement of using rainbow colors.Go check out their fun blog and challenges. They always have a fun challenge and provide a couple of twists.

I have a pastel rainbow card to share.

I used scraps from a marble pattern paper retired from SU!  I think I got in all the ROYGBIV, except the indigo and orange. I used a black card base to make the colors pop more. It reminds me a bit of stained glass windows. For the SU sentiment, I stamped it on the purple marble pattern and die cut it with SU! Diaroma die. The paper is a bit thin so I cut a matching piece from white and glued them together. This made the sentiment strong enough to pop it up with foam tape.

I hope you will check out the design team cards and share a creation of your own.

Dreams

I usually make a few graduation cards for the Co-Op that carries my cards. This one I see as sophiscated and appropriate for the college grad.

The background paper is SU!'s Enjoy the Journey. The blue vellum was in my scraps. The oval is SU!'s Textured shimmer. The trees are die cut from SU! On the Horizon. The sentiment is a sticker.

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday

Last Easter Card

Time is running out so I think this is my last Easter card for this year. I used all the bright Easter/Spring colors.

I used some papers from the scraps files. The yellow is embossed with a Sizzix folder. Try an experiment with me. Looking at the embossing one way it looks like the debossed sided.  Blink and keep staring at it you can see the raised flowers.  The image is an old Newton's Nook one. The sentiment is SU!.

Thanks to the challenges from Can You Handle The Pressure? I am remembering to use my embossing folders more. Their challenge is
