Play Date Cafe

the play date cafe challenges with this color combo:

Not something I would have thought of but hey that's what challenge means. Out of your comfort zone. Now that I have it completed, I really like the combo. I used the sketch from mojo monday, leaving out a couple of elements. That is what is great about checking out different challenges. You can often use 1 sketch with another's color combo. So here is my card:

The solids are all Bazzil cardstock.
Stamps: Stampendous, PTI (sentiment)
Inks: Studio G gold and StazOn black
Martha Stewart stamp/punch butterfly.
Fiskar edge punch

kraftsman

cas-ualfridays challenge is make a masculine card using kraft paper. My husband really fits the "kraftsman" mold.He is a great handyman. So here is my birthday card for him.

Kraft base of course with Cuttlebug circles IP.
DP and red background paper from TAC--maybe discontinued. I've had it a couple of years.
Sentiment from Michaels (I think). Two "rivets" (since this is in man terms) on each end with twine run through,.
I saw a card on a blog one day with washers. Absolutely knew I should have bookmarked or written it down as I cannot remember the source. Let me know if it was yours. I'd love to give you credit. All these circles reminded me of washers so I ran out to the shop and borrowed 3 small gold ones. I guess it is okay as he will be getting them back.!! Hope you like my masculine card. I know my man will!!

Combo challenges

Today I have a 2fer. Well maybe its more like 1 for 2-one card, 2 challenges. CAS-ual Fridays challenge is using color blocks.The Playdate Cafe has these fun summer colors to use

So here is my card:

I used white cardstock with flower Fiskar IP embossing on the front. Can't see that very well here.            The 1/2" squares (the top one is actually orange) are stamped with an Inkadinkadoo flower petal stamp in VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder. A clear rhinestone centers each one. The birthday sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. I stamped it with Stampabilities orange pigment ink and then traced with clear star jel pen.

S*T*A*R*

S*T*A*R is what Papercraft Star asks us to use for inspiration for a card this week. I have several friends coming up on 50th anniversaries soon so I decided make a card for that.

I used white cardstock. Gold mettalic DP is from Michael's. 50th is cut with Cricut (Jasmine). Sentiment is Lawn Fawn stamped in black and highlighted with clear star gel pen

So here is my inspiration:
S= sentiment
T=three flowers
A=anniversary
R=recycle (the flowers came from a birthday card someone sent me)

Dad

CAS-ual Fridays has this really fun cool challenge: play Tic Tac Toe with this grid:

I chose buttons, punch, embossing for a Father's Day card. Then I added a 4th with ribbon. You don't always win Tic Tac Toe in 3 straight plays! The embossing is Cuttlebug's woodgrain rubbed with StazOn Timber Brown. The punch is the square scallop stamped with letters from Studio G. The button has slits the blue ribbon fits through. Isn't your Dad a blue ribbon Dad? The other "ribbon" is suitable for Dads--it is drywall tape. Thanks CFC for a fun challenge.

Fishing buddy

Papertrey Paperdolls challenge is making masculine theme cards. I did a Father's Day for my card. What little guy doesn't like to go fishing with his Daddy? The DP is from scraps backed with a dark brown and tied with twine (kind of like fishing line?-well maybe not, I am not a fishing person! LOL!!) The little guy is a TAC stamp, colored with colored pencils. I tore the paper and antiqued it with Tea Dye Ink. The sentiment is also TAC. I am doing a card sale at Curve's on Monday. Hope somebody likes this for their father.

CFC5

Cas-ual Fridays challenge is this sketch by Laura (I've missed your sketch challenges) Welcome back!
Here is my card. This adorable little chick in hot air balloon is from DeNami. They have the cutest! little animal stamps. The sentiment is computer generated. I used colored pencils on the balloons and sponged some Color Box sky blue around them. The sun is InkDot yellow. The grass is from PTI. And the ribbon from WalMart. This may be a "clean" card but maybe not so "simple" because of all the coloring. My Daughter in Law is competing in her first triathlon next week. I think this will inspire her.

Giraffe card.

Tuesday Throwdown challenge for the week is using animals. I have this cute little giraffe stamp from DeNami. They have the cutest baby animal stamps. I colored it with water color pens. I shredded a little of the twine to make a fluffy tail. The DPs are from my scrap files. I just pulled colors from the DP for backing and card. Maybe a cute one for baby boy's 1st birthday?

CAS--Casual Friday

Cas-ual Fridays clean and simple challenge for this week is graduation cards. I think this cute little stamp from DeNami Design with the computer generated message will inspire grads to go places. It is hard to see in the picture but I also sponged just a bit of Color Box sky blue behind each balloon.
