swirls

It has been a slow lazy day here so I have had time to do 2 challenges today ThePlayDateCafe challenge
83 is using black, white, and green. I was at first hesitant about that color combo but finally came up with this card. I used black cardstock base, white cardtock stamped with a swirl pattern. I don't remember the stamp source as I took it out of its original pkg and put in CD jewel case and forgot to cut off the label. Black rhinestones dot the swirls in a few places. Then green ribbon and bow (WalMart) and a greeting from The Angel Company. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig (I love, love that tool!!) really helps get images lined up right.

50th anniversary

The paper trey paper dolls challenge #38 is wedding or anniversary cards. I am of the age when I don't have so many wedding invitations. But several of our friends are reaching 50th anniversaries so that is what I decided to go with. This is on ivory cardstock with Papertrey linen IP. that is hard to pick up here as it is very sublte but gives just the right amount of texture. White and ivory scallops are EK punch. They are bordered with strip of lace from JoAnn's and gold mettalic ribbon from Michaels. 50 is cut with Cricut from gold vellum put on punched circle and backed with gold vellum circle. The sentiment is Lawn Fawn in StazOn timber brown and highlighted with clear star gel pen. I added some dots on scallops with gold star gel pen. I think it turned out to be a very elegant card.

CFC#3

Cas-ual Fridays challenge is to use bling while keeping card clean & simple. I bought the eyelet punch today and wanted to try it. I cut a strip from white cardstock and used an EK scallop punch and the Fiskar eyelet punch. Ribbon and pink rhinestones are from Michael's. The pink butterfly was purchased at a trade show in Louisville but don't know the source. Sentiment is The Angel Company. I hope this card brightens your day as well as the recepient.

stripes

Tuesday Throwdown challenge #50 is using stripes. I have been making several pocket cards lately and the design for this card was inspired by a post on DaNami blog that you can see here. Pocket cards are thrifty as they only need 1piece of cardstock 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. This DP was the last bit of this stripe paper. I wish I could remember where it is from as I would relly like to have more. It has been so versatile. The trick here is to remember to only put tape on sides and bottom! The seam tape ribbon is SU. Stamps are Inkidinkidoo and The Angel Company. Inks are geranium from Martha Stewart and light green from Stampabilities. I traced over the geranium with a rose star gel pen. Three pink rhinestones add a little bling at the bottom.

It really says vintage to me and I was really going to try a vintage card. But I was looking in my stash of scraps and found this stripe DP that I thought, "picket fence" and it went from there. I love the button punch from Martha Stewart because you don't need padding or extra postage to mail the card. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and the seam binding ribbon from SU. It is fairly CAS but I needed a quick card to sent to a friend's mother who has moved into a nursing home. So here is my card.:

1st birthday

Tuesday Throwdown challenge is project for child or baby. I made a first birthday card. Since babies like bright colors, I chose a yellow cardbase. The triangle is from my stash. The squares are from Nana's Kids stackpack. I used stickers for the frog, butterflies, and ladybugs. The # and 1 are cut with Cricket. I decorated the inside with more stickers.

CAS--twine and buttons

Cas-ual fridays challenge CFC 2 is to use twine and buttons. My card has "Hemingway" DP from The Angel Company. The sail boat stamp is Inkadinadoo. The sentiment is from TAC stamped on a "flag" which mimics the flag on the ship. The baler's twine is threaded through oange buttons and the punched scallop. Makes a great masculine card.

CAS congrats

 There is a new challenge blog at Cas-ual Fridays. The theme this week is using text in some way while keeping cards clean & simple. I thought I usually made CAS cards but am finding I keep wanting to add more so this really did turn out to me a challenge for me. I just received a graduation announcement so decided to go with a congratulation card. Here is my card:

I have an old dictionary so I pulled out the page with the definition of graduate tore it to fit the kraft cardstock. I sponged on StazOn timber brown to give an even more antique look. Punched out a brown scallop and put dots on the scallops with gold star gel pen. The diploma is a sticker stamped with TAC tiny tidbits. Then finished off with a gold star sticker.

Mother's Day

I just finished last week tuesday throwdown challenge and here it is time for another. This week is Mother's Day cards. I love this butterfly from Stamp Affair and use it on a lot of projects. It is colored with colored pencils and then highlighted in places with Clear Star Gel Pen. The flower DP is from my scrap files. The ovals are cut with Creative Memories shape cutters. The buttons are tied with white scrapper's floss that I colored with an orange Tombrow water color pen. Can't remember where I picked up that hint but you only have to stock one roll of floss and you can have any color you want. Ribbon is from Michael's. The sentiment is from The Angel Company and traced over with Clear Star Gel Pen.

Playdate Cafe & Tuesday Throwdown

I've been away for awhile--having fun visiting grandsons so I am getting in just under the wire for the playdate cafe color challenge of red, lime, and grey. I needed a graduation card for a friend's granddaughter so thought these colors would do well for that. Then discovered I could also use this for  tuesday throwdown challenge of using eyelets or brads.
Materials:
Crdstock: white base, then everything else is from my scrap file.
Stamps: Congrats and star both from Stampabilities.
Star punch: Paper Studio. Tied on with lime green embroidery floss.
Label: Nesties 8 with computer generated words.
Silver eyelets on either end of congrats strip and red rhinestone in star center and on label.

On the inside, I used a strip of green over the white message and punched stars so the red would show through.
