Big Smile

I am enjoying a nice quiet afternoon in the craft room after a busy hectic week. This is another card for my Operation Write Home stash. I hope it will bring a smile to someone's face.
I did a clean and layered design for The Card Concept challenge. The gray polka dots strip is cut from a shopping bag. I love to recycle and this was a large bag so you will probably see more of it. The yellow DP is from SU. Sentiment is from a set of children's quotes and I can't remember who makes that. The gray ribbon is from the scrap box and tied with some yellow/white twine.
This is the inspiration photo from The Card Concept.

#1 Dad

Cas-ual Fridays has a super challenge this month. Make a guy card using no kraft as a color and add ribbon.
I had made some Father's Day cards for a craft sale last month. This one did not sell and it fits the challenge perfectly.
The base is a silver shimmery cardstock from a DCWV pack. The DPs are from SU. I used a Fiskar punch to make a border on top of the 2 patterned pieces. The aqua is run through the crimper. The tag was stamped at the top with a new tag topper punch from SU. The Dad sentiment is also from SU. The ribbon and sentiment are from Inkadinkadoo.  I chose a silver ribbon for the tag and then tied the aqua/white twine around that.

Rainbows

In tribute to Maya Angelou, a great women of wisdom. You can find many of her more memorable and inspirational quotes on this website.
I did the quote on the computer. Added ribbons from the stash. Punched out clouds and sponged on some blue to make them stand out, and then popped 2 of them with deminsionals.

Inspiration Everywhere

It is true, you can find inspiration for cards wherever you are. While waiting at the Copy Trolly for some documents to be faxed, I was reading the magnets they had displayed there. The minute I spotted the one with the pile of turtles and this saying, I knew I wanted to use it on a card.
The stamps are from an old set from SU. I colored them all with colored pencils, fussy cut them out, and clued to the side of the sentiment that I did on the computer. The rickrack sticking out the top is tied with green & white twine.
This sketch if from Freshly Made Sketches
So when you are out and about, be on the lookout for inspiration.

Birthday Fairy

Today's card is a cutie fairy from Ladybug Crafts ink. She has multicolored hair on purpose for Tuesday Throwdown challenge of wild colored hair.
Well, the whole thing is actually colorful! I always think of polka dots when doing little girl cards. These polka dot DPs are BoBunny. The ribbons are from my stash. I colored the fairy with colored pencils. The hair color is hard to detect from this photo. It is yellow with streaks of blue and orange. I used a clear star gel pen for the wings to give them some shimmer.

Happy Day

Today I have a cheerful, colorful card to wish someone a happy day. Could be for birthday or just because.
I found these DPs on 1/2 price rack in a scrapbook store nearby. Love those kinds of bargains! The flowers are by Bella Blvd and the butterflies are punched from a piece by Elizabeth Park. The polka dots are from the scrap bin. The butterflies did not show up on that busy background so I did the shadow effect with punching out butterflies in black, gluing them down and popping the butterflies on top with glue dots. The sentiment is from The Angel Company.

Tool Man

My DH is in the running for "He who has the most tools wins". And, every time he has a new project, he needs a new tool to complete it. So I have to use a tool theme for his birthday card. I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

The tools are cut from a paper by Creative Imaginations. I glued them to a piece of "board" paper from my scrap file. The stripes are also from scrap file. The sentiment is SU. I "tacked" the pieces down with nails also cut from the tool paper.

CAS Nautical

I am between projects so thought I would spend some time making cards for Operation Write Home who sends cards to troops deployed overseas. Good excuse to make cards for a good cause. Check out their website here, I turned to Mojo Monday for a little sketch inspiration.
I used Gorgeous Grunge from SU for the background stamping. I love the grunge look but always thought whatever I tried just looked messy. I was so glad SU came out with this stamp set. The ship is an old one without a label so no credit there. The pilot wheels are DP from SU I have had these papers out for several days and this is the last of it. Here are others that I made along the same theme.

More Spring Flowers

The sketch challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches this week comes with a twist--spring flowers.
So with more scraps I gleaned from by paper scrap box, I have another flower card.
Here is the sketch
So, enough playing in the craft room today, I need to get on to other activities.

Thanks a "Latte"

A quick second post today for The Card Concept challenge of using a coffee theme.
I used a CAS layered look with a set from Inkadinadoo, paper piecing the coffee cup. The burlap ribbon is SU. All on a Kraft Card Base.

Spring Flowers

I spent all afternoon yesterday cleaning and straightening in my craft room. There was so much mess, I think it was stifling my mojo. I even threw away some of my paper scraps. GASP!!! I know, I know. I'm sure I'll want something next week that I threw away.  So today, I was eager to get creating again.
Spring is in the air all around blog land. Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week is spring blossoms. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to make this card.
Everything but the card base, I found in my scrap file. The stamp is from SU. I colored the stamp with watercolor pens and then stamped it on the background. The label is also from SU stamped with Certainly Celery. I'm upset they discontinued that color. It was one of my favorites. The hello is from The Angel Company stamped with Melon Mambo. I had to move the label to the opposite side to accommodate for the flower branch. I added a little pink rhinestone to the corner of the label.

CAS sketch

I am having so much fun doing baby thank yous for my daughter who is having a girl in July.
There are examples of others here and here
Both designer papers are from Hobby Lobby. The baby carriage is Studio G and the sentiment is Inkadinkadoo. I added 2 pink pearls to the carriage wheels for bling. Since this is to be a CAS card, I tried the banner just on the green card base--didn't work for me, too CAS. So I added the pink DP behind the banner. Makes the banner pop a lot more.

Baby Thanks #2

Here is another in my series of baby gift thank yous that I am making for my daughter. See yesterday's card here
For this one, I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches  I was wanting to do a card with banners so this was very timely.
DPs are BoBunny and Paper Pizzaz. The sentiment is PTI. The cute little baby feet are Precious Remembrance. The ribbon is from Michael's. I am a little disappointed that it is printed crooked--that is not because I stretched the ribbon when I secured it. 3 pink pearls add the bling even baby girls need.
Have to get busy doing more of these--her shower is Saturday.

Special Lady

Tuesday Throwdown challenge today is "Special Lady". Of course, the first person I thought of was my Mom. However, I want to share a card for 2 other "special ladies" in my life. My wonderful daughter is presenting us with a granddaughter in July. She is busy with a job, husband, and 2 boys ages 6 & 8. I know she would appreciate having some special thank you cards for the baby gifts she will surely receive. She is very crafty and creative but I'm sure will not have time to make any cards.
DPs are BoBunny and Paper Pizzaz. Baby carriage is Studio G and sentiment is Inkadinkadoo.
