Aqua

Papercraft Star challenge this week is using aqua. Check out their beautiful inspiration photos.
I am stocking up on cards for the Care and Concern Committee at church who sends cards to shut-ins. So I did a "thinking of you" card. I think it will bring cheer to someone's day.
I used a white card base. The aqua stripe is from SU. I used a cheery yellow in back of the stripe. After tearing a piece of white, I sponged a yellow from Studio G on the edges. The flower is the same yellow with the stem being colored with water color pen. Then aqua/white twine and a yellow button to accent. The flower stamp is Hampton Art Stamps and the sentiment is Inkadinkadoo. The layout was inspired by a blog somewhere out there but I just copied the picture and forgot to put the name on it. If it looks familiar to someone, let me know. I would love to give you credit. I print out pictures and layouts and tape them into a notebook for future inspiration. When I am stumped for a design, I just go to the notebook and look until something inspires me.

Retro Sketch

I am really enjoying retrosketches weekly challange. Bunch of talented ladies there. This is this week's sketch and my card.

I saw this saying somewhere in Texas while on vacation a few months ago and thought it would be  cute on a card. So I finally got around to using it.
DP is Making Memories. That is real duck tape and band aid on the card. I only had the clear band aids. I may get some cloth ones and change that out so it shows a little better. I did the sentiment on the computer and then punched it out. It's hard to see but across the bottom of the tag is an argyle border (old one from The Angel Company) stamped in turquoise. The tag is tied with aqua and lavender twinery. I'm trying to do a bunch of masculine cards for the Care and Concern committee at church. I think this will be a great one.

Pick up

CAS is having a challenge to make masculine cards using patterned paper. My card uses paper from my scrap file. I think it was The Angel Company which is now out of business. The truck is SU "Loads of Love". It is so versatile with several things you can load in the back as well as several sentiments.
Here is the front

And inside:

I am making cards for the Care and Concern ladies group at church who send card to members. It is always a challenge to make masculine cards. This stamp set works so well for men.

Birthday ice cream

I just had to join the challenge at Paper Craft Star to make a birthday card or bag. I love making birthday cards because they are always so fun and cheerful. This one is for my granddaughter who loves ice cream, just like her Nana!LOL!!
It is on white cardstock. DP is from DCWV "Nana's Kids". Well that is appropriate!
Ball fringe from SU. Sentiment from SU colored with colored pencils. I free hand cut the cone from Kraft cardstock and ran it through Big Shot with the Cuttlebug argyle folder. The scoops of ice cream are actually with a cloud punch by Fiskars. I actually use it for ice cream more than clouds. Then I added sparkles with clear glitter glue. Looks good enough to eat!!

Red,White,Blue Graduation

Today I am entering a new challenge (for me) at Butternut Sage Designs. I have been admiring Donna's cards for awhile. If you have not been to her blog check it out. Her challenge this week is red, white, and blue--either patriotic or not. Our local high school uses those colors and their team name is Stars. so I made this card for a graduate there.
The patterned papers are from Hobby Lobby. Stampabilities sentiment. '12 is from an alphabet stickers page.

MoJo

Almost a month since last post. Been on vacation, and catching up after getting home kept me from the craft room. Then I had the granddaughters for 2 days. We did lots of crafts for them, making Mother's Day cards, Father's Day cards, and teacher thank yous. It is always fun to have them here. Finally I am ready to do something of my own. Thank goodness for Mojo Monday inspiration. Here is their sketch and my take:

The DPs are from a pack of handmade paper I bought at a yard sale so I don't know their source. The border on the grey is Martha Stewart. The butterly is from a pack of tags from Michaels--on sale for $2.00. The bow is from ribbon attached to the tag. I just made a bow and covered the eyelet hole. The flower is from a stem of flowers purchased at Wal-mart. All in all a pretty inexpensive card but looks pretty special.
