Tic-Tac-Toe

Playing along with tic-tac-toe at The Paper Players

I chose the middle row--get well, bling, yellow
This is a case of a card I found in my 2012 SU catalogue. Yellow card base. Get well sentiment from Lawn Fawn. Floral design is with Summer Silhouettes from SU. Bling with rhinestones on the yellow flowers. The hexagon IP and the dotted DP are from SU also.

Easy 1-3-4

I really do how to count, but 1-3-4 describes my card this week for the challengeof anything goes at Simon Says Stamps Challenge.  1 sentiment, 4 banner strips--2 paper, 2 Washi tape, 3 circles.
If you are like me, you have a scrap file overstuffed with bits and pieces. We crafters never know when that little scrap will look great on a card someday!  So I rummaged around in there and chose 3 similar colors but with different patterns. I added some texture with IP on 2 circles. The sentiment is from SU. I usually would use dimensionals on the top circle but this will be sent in the mail so I kept it flat.

Dots, dots, and more dots

The Play Date Café colors this week are raspberry, pastel pink, lilac. My card:
is lots of dots. Polka dot IP, polka dot DP--both from SU, then a bit of Washi tape from SU to break up all those circles. The flower is from Loving Thoughts by SU.

Glitz and Glimmor

Don't we all love when we can multi-task? This week my card meets 2 challenges Tuesday Throwdown for "glitz & glimmer" and this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I really love this cutie hippo by Mostly Animals. I colored the body with a pink pencil to give it a little glow. The shoes and her fingernails (don't show up here) are done with a red star gel pen. What is more glam than ruby slippers?

The star is colored with gold gel star pen and the wings with clear star gel pen. The IP is from Fiskar. I think it looks like animal hide. The gold glitter paper is from SU. That great sentiment "Where's that Fairy Godmother when you need her" was found at a craft show. It is from www.toomuchfunrubberstamps.com.
This makes a really fun birthday card. Here is the inside:

Fabric Layer

I kept looking at this inspiration picture from Papercraft Star thinking of how I could use it.

The chair fabric was "speaking" to me. So I looked in a box of fabric scraps given to me by my quilting neighbor and found something really similar.
I used ivory card base, then a layer of blue jeweltone (DCWV), then glued the fabric on the blue. I found a piece of lace with blue ribbon through it. The blue label is a Nestie die. It needed a little something to soften the blue so I punched out 2 doilies (SU) to insert in back. The flower on the blue is fussy cut from the fabric and glued on with a leaf branch (Spellbinders) behind. The sentiment and tag punch are from SU. Lace and doilies, of course, always need pearls.

Cherries

A cheery thank you note with cherries.
for the Summer Fruit challenge at Simon Says Stamps Challenge using this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

DP and Red cardstock are from SU. The green scallop is just from scrap file. The sentiment is Inkadinkadoo. The banner is smudged with some SU Real Red ink to define it a bit. The cherries are an old stamp, stamped on red scrap and green scrap. Then I cut out the stems & leaf and glued to the cherries. I highlighted the cherries with a white pen and then spread on glossy effects so they would shine.

More Flower Bling

I have had the Mixed Bunch stamp set and punch from Stampin Up for quite awhile and have finally inked it up. I think it will become a "go to" set. I used it for the sketch challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches
Also tried pictures with the new iPhone. Not too impressed. I don't think it does close up very well. It also does not have the anti-shake feature.
The flower DP is from a DCWV paper pack--cover long gone so I don't know which one. I pulled the colors of the flowers for the background squares. I rounded each outside corner to mimic the circle shape. The flower is stamped in Colorbox violet and centered on a green scrap circle. I glued gold sequins in the flower center to give a little bling. Did you notice the bumblebee on the flower? It is a die cut from a pack from Joann's. The get well stamp and label punches are also SU. Inside, I used another of the Mixed Bunch to stamp flowers in the coordinating colors. Looking at that picture, I am thinking "fireworks" as another use for this stamp.
This is the inspiration sketch:

Birthday Tag

A Blog Named Hero by Hero Arts challenge is adding a tag. This card I actually cased from my 2013 Stampin Up Catalog.
The tag is punched with a Creative Memories punch. The flower on the tag is from SU, stamped in Pool Party. I used the same flower stamp with VersaMark ink on the lower half of the card base. The sentiment and tag die cut are also SU. The doily is from Dollar Store. Aqua rhinestones add some bling.

Bling Flower

The Paper Players have a CAS "bling" challenge going on this week.
On a white card base, I used a scrap of paisley which doesn't show well here--it is pink, purple, lime green. The ek scallop punch mimics the curves of the paisleys. The flower stamped with Colorbox violet- stamped off once to subdue the tone-and punch are from SU. There are sequins topped with rhinestones in the center of the flower. The sentiment is also SU stamped in Lucky Limeade and traced over with a clear star gel pen to give it some glitter.

travel

When Cas-ual Fridays proposed travel as a challenge, I immediately thought of retirement. We have really been enjoying the traveling since we retired. So many of our friends are at that age that I decided to make a retirement card to have on hand.
I recently replaced our road atlas and being the recycler that I am thought I could use the maps on cards. So this one uses a portion of Indiana (with my hometown). The black strip is glitter tape I found at Michael's. It was a sale item for Halloween but sure makes a cute road. The car is stamped in black on yellow with sequin headlight and tire rims. Kind of looks like a cute little VW bug. The sentiment and 2 label punches are SU.

Sail Away

Simon Says Stamps Challenge  of using transportation inspired this card. The item in the top left corner is an ad cut from a shopping bag from Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. The compass stamp is Tim Holtz done in SU chocolate chip. The sand and water stamp as well as the ship have lost their labels so I can't credit them. Sentiment is SU.
Now you can go sailing off to a happy birthday!

2 cards 1 sketch

Two very different cards from 1 great sketch at Mojo Monday
I did one in a more formal style for a 50th anniversary.
The other is a fun birthday

Both of them have the mini-cupcake paper flowers. The anniversary ones are mocha, the birthday ones are white. I stamped a script on each of the 3 layers, put a little pleat on the inner circle and used a glue dot to secure layers together. Then used a button on the anniversary and 3 purple brads on the birthday one.  Scalloped edge punch is from ek. The papers were all from my scrap box--I am still on a quest to use a bunch of them. The flipflops are from Lockhart Stamp Co., colored with water color markers.
Thank you MoJo Monday for a great sketch. I printed this one out to glue in my idea book. I'm sure I will be coming back to it.

wedding

I have a wedding card to show today. Wedding cards to me are white on white, lace, texture, ribbons, pearls.

White cardstock, heart paper doily, 3 white lace trims, white crochet flower (from SU). Pearl embellishments. Blush cardstock, white embossed paper lightly sponged with Studio G blush, sentiment from SU stamped with blush.

I used this picture inspiration from Papercraft Star

and this sketch design from Deconstructing Jen

banners

Cas-ual Fridays blog has a challenge of creating with banners.
Ties are banners, right? Banners worn around the neck. These cute ties are from a stamp/die cut combo by Hero Arts purchased at Archiver's. I glued only the knot of the tie so they look like they are swinging free. The "dad" is from Loved Ones by SU. The dad banner is Spellbinders. I cut a duplicate banner in blue to create a shadow to emphasis the dad banner. These 2 banners are taped together and then popped up on dimensionals.
Colors on the ties are: Real Red from SU, Royal Blue from Color Box, and Peeled Paint (green) Distress Ink from Tim Holtz.

Ignore the brown, the card base is white. I have trouble photographing white--my craft room light is not optimal, so I used the scanner.

Pals Paper Arts challenge

I hope I have the colors right here. I really need to get SUs color coach so when I have lost the labels I can remember the colors. These papers were in my scrap box--boy is it overflowing. My resolution of using up these scraps of designer papers is not going very fast. I keep finding more adorable papers that I just have to have. hehehe. Pals Paper Arts new challenge is Primrose Petals, Gumball Green, and Whisper white.

PrimroseGumballWhite

I have been wanting to try the technique of double stamping, first with white and then with a color. It is really hard to see in the picture but this one has Raspberry Ripple over the white. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped the raspberry just a smidge off the white so both will show. This image is Blooming with Kindness. I added a sticker to the center for some bling. I tied the ribbon just in a knot so this will be flatter to mail. The sentiment is Lawn Fawn.
Inside, I put a border on the left edge. It happens to be a strip of the primrose petals that I practiced the stamping technique on.

Tribute to Dad

I am combining Simon Says Stamps Challenge with this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

to pay tribute to all the things found in my Dad's garage/workshop. I guess it is true girls marry men like their Dad because all of these are in my hubby's workshop also.
The base is Kraft cardstock. The scrap lumber DP is well--scrap paper. Dad is from SU stamped in black. The banners are left to right: burlap, duct tape, tape measure, painter's tape, drywall tape. Shop twine ties it all up on the left.

Girls Rule

Lots of inspiration for my card today. Tuesday Throwdown challenge is to use embossing. The sketch I followed is from Tuesday Morning Sketches

Even better is the idea from Melissa from Simon Says Stamp Blog wanting us to send cards to Maddy, a little girl at St Jude Hosp. getting treatment for cancer.
So Maddy this is for you:
and inside:
I am also sending this to Maddy in the hospital. I am not signing the card but sending her a message on a separate sheet of paper as I thought she might want to send a card to one of her friends.
The color inspiration is from the color block page from DCWV "Nana's Kids" paper stack. I cut out the separate sections for the tabs and the message inside.

summertime

Summertime fun--walks on beach with new flip flops, shelling, dragonflies. Oh, happy day!!.
Ivory card base.  Kraft strip run through wood IP and lightly sponged with SU tempting turquoise looks like water over the beach. The strip of turquoise for the ocean. Fireflies are Hero Arts stamped in SU Lucky Limeade. The flip flops are colored with colored pencils, cut out and popped up on dimensionals. The shell is from $1 bin at Michael's. Sentiment is a partial one from TAC.

Music teacher

A Blog Named Hero has a challenge for manly cards so this is what I made for our church choir director:

Our church choir director is retiring from his school teaching job but thankfully not from his church job. I love to make theme appropriate cards and this piece of music paper from Paper Studio fits the bill for him. DP is from SU. I found the quote on http://www.quotegarden.com/. The b&w twine if from Tim Holtz. Congrats if from a word collection set I have and is punched out with a SU tag punch.
I need to think of something clever and theme based to write on the inside. Anyone have any ideas?
