Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week is using florals. I used a lavender cardstock base. The DP here is Color Me Flowers from Paper Wishes. It already has the embossed flowers, vines, leaves, and tiny butterflies. I sponged baby blue and violet over the flowers, Stampabilities light green over the vines, and violet over the butterflies. The blossom is from a purple geranium that I took apart. I put clear glitter glue on the blue flower brad to give some sparkle. I purchased the butterfly accent at a scrapbook convention but don't know its source. I scrunched up the purple ribbon over craft tape. I printed a sentiment on the computer, stamped on a violet flower (Inkidinkidoo), and tiny blue butterfly (TAC) on the inside. Here is the inside:

Card aisle inspiration
Laurie who makes amazing cards, over at Soapbox Creations blog has challenged her followers to get inspiration from the card aisle at the store. I didn't even have to go shopping---I have the Hallmark "make your own card" CD installed on my computer. So that is where I shopped. Here is my inspiration card. I did have to print it out and then scan it.
Here is my interpretation.
My DH has commented that what he likes about my cards is that they are so dimensional. (I think he actually gets it!! LOL!!) Can't get that look in the card aisle!!

PDCC74
This is my first time making a card for The Playdate Cafe challenge. This beautiful picture of a cafe is the inspiration. I love the colors but really had a challenge coming up with something. I went to the craft room and laid out a bunch of papers and then just sat and stared at them. Went away. Thought about it. And finally came up with this card.
I found stems of purple hydrangeas on sale. Pull apart the blossoms and you have scads of flower embellishments for little cost. The ribbon and papers and blue rhinestones are all from Michael's. Did you notice that teeny blue rhinestone for the dot of the I?

Stamping 411 #195
This is for stamping 411 sketch challenge 195. I used ivory card base, I used CB circles IP on the kraft cardstock because it reminds me of wheels. The DPs are Rustic Stack and Shimmer Stack. I punched out 2 circles and used a birthday stamp--looks like a wheel, huh? Then the cute little car stamp from Inkadindadoo. Black strips to look like a road and then all tied up with twine. The faux buttons are Martha Stewart punch--again look like wheels! I used this instead of real buttons because they make less weight and bulk on a card. I am making cards for Operation Write Home a group that sends handcrafted cards to troops overseas for them to send to their loved ones. If you have a big stock of cards made up, check out their site. It is a great cause.

gratitude
papertrey paperdolls has a challenge this week to do a card of gratitude. I like this sentiment from TAC "You're so thoughtful" The inside says "I,m so Thankful". The DP is pre-embossed with flowers, vines, and butterflies. I rubbed ink across the surface in yellow, green, and orange. The vine stamp on the circle is Paper Inspirations. The butterfly is Stamp Affair stamped in black on white cardstock then colored with water color pens and cut out. I used jeweler's wire to make the antenna. The ribbon is from Michael's.

embossing
stamping411 has a great tutorial on making designer paper stamping out objects gluing them on cardstock and then embossing. I love it. I know I will use this again and again. I used different size pastel circles on white cardstock and then embossed with Cuttlebug argyle. I can't remember where this cute little elephant is from but it came in a set of baby animals. I stamped him on a tag and colored him with watercolors and colored pencils then tied it on with baker's twine. I think this will be a cute baby gift thank you. But hey--not from me!! No babies at this house!

this is the challenge from the play date cafe this week. I like the color challenges because they put together combos I may not have tried. Here is my interpretation
The DP is pre-embossed with swirls. It is from Hot Off The Press. I sponged gold ink lightly over it to highlight the embossing. On the scallop punched circle, I stamped the circle from a set by Fiskar. Sentiment is TAC with Studio G lavender ink that I highlighted with purple star gel pen. Then I attached acrylic butterflies with glue dots and popped the circle with demensionals.

bit of lace
tuesday throwdown challenge this week is add lace to artwork. I used spring colors and a bit of antique lace. The yellow and pink are Bazill cardstock and the polka dots DCWV Nana's Kids. Lighter pink is punched from scalloped square punch and topped with white punched square. Sentiment is TAC tag tidbits stamped with Martha Stewart pink geranium then traced with rose star gel pen. I put dots on the scallops with green star gel pen. The flower petals are centered with rhinestone brad. A light pink ribbon is glued to the lace.

On the mend
For mojomonday sketch 182. I have had this DP from SU for awhile and didn't quite know how to use it. I was looking for inspiration for a get well card and thought "on the mend" so the buttons and sewing machines fit right in. The zigzag yellow if from a box of 5x5 card kit from Michaels. The sentiment is TAC done in Martha Stewart pink geranium ink. I tied the button on with baker's twine. Because of the big button, the card would not lay flat and my scanner did not show this well so had to get out the camera. I really need to find a good set up to photograph my cards. The photos turn out better than the scanner.

pink/purple
There is a color challenge this week at Paper Craft Star. I like color challenges as it pushes me to try new combos. Although due to the influence of my granddaughters, I use a lot of pink and purple combinations. Cuttlebug swirl IP plate used on pink background. I attended a CK Scrapbook convention yesterday and did a "make & take" card at Boxer Scrapbook Productions with the swirley DP and just had to buy some! It is Color Me Swirls by Hot Off The Press, Inc. The embossed swirls are white on white and I sponged lavender & pink dyes over the surface. I think it makes a very pretty look. The lattice border is a Fiskar punch (also purchased at the convention). The pink flower and purple butterfly (purchased at convention) are attached with glue dots.
As you can see, I had a good time at the convention and certainly did my part to boost the economy!!LOL!!

scrap card
Tuesday Throwdown challenge of using up scraps this week was an easy one for me. Because I surely have LOTS of scraps. Since they are scraps from long ago, I won't be able to tell you sources. Not only am I into scraps but shapes--swirls, sqares, dots, and ovals. . The scallop oval is Nestabilities and the sentiment is TAC. Even the ribbon was a stray piece from my scrap ribbons. The bow is tied with Bow-Easy and it sure does help with those narrow ribbons. The flower is a white daisy colored with Copic centered with button and scrapper's floss. Hope this makes your day delightful!

MoJo Monday 181
mojo monday really got my mojo going today--Thanks! Here is their sketch
Ane here is my interpretation
The base is ivory cardstock, then blue Bazill cardstock. DP is "My Mind's Eye" and the burgandy strip and green behind punched scallop are from scrap box. I cut out the leaf branch with Cricut. The robin is also with Cricut and then paper pieced. Boy was that beak hard to handle!! Sentiment is TAC with StazOn timber brown. I used a square paper clip and 2 bronze brads for accents. I think maybe a great guy's b'day card!

Rubber Ducky
papercraft star challenge is design a card with a song, movie, book in mind. I was searching my supplies for inspiration and saw these cute duck stickers. Made me think of the Sesame Street song "Rubber Ducky You're The One" by Earnie. One of my kids favorites. And I was so delighted when I heard my daughter singing it with her sons at bathtime.
Card supplies: white card stock with Cuttlebug IP (makes me think of bubbles)
3 shades of blue scraps with EK scallop punch
Light blue circle punched out.
#1 cut with Cricut Storybook
Sentiment by Paper Studio

baby cards
papertrey paperdolls challenge for the week is to make baby boy and girl cards with similar layouts. This was really fun. I don't make many baby cards. Oh my, I can see the scanner really shows that yellow strip on the bottom of the girl card is not straight. Some times my astigmitism plays tricks on me! My glasses must have been on croocked.
Boy card: white cardstock, green with Fiskar IP of frogs & bugs, Nestabilities labels 8 with computer generated quote, frog sticker, WalMart green rick rack, and funky square paper clip from Michael's.
Girl card: white cardstock, pink with Fiskar IP flowers, Nestie label 8 with computer quote, Michael's pink floral trim, and of course even baby girls need bling--rhinestone flower center on label. Quotes were both found on http://www.quotegarden.com/
