Bejeweled

I love when I buy Christmas paper on sale and then find some that works for other occasions also. This paper is from SU and I immediately thought of the video game Bejeweled. So I know it would be great for cards that I make to send to Send A Smile 4 Kids.
For this one, I used this sketch from The Paper Players

I pulled out some scraps from the file that matched the jewels colors. Used the SU hexagon impression folder on the blue. Punched out hexagon shapes. SU sentiment on the banner.
I was so pleased to be able to get 8 cards with one 12x12 paper.

Texting

I am fairly new at texting everything but my kids and grandkids seem to only communicate that way. So when a friend asked me to make a card for a teenage girl what could be more appropriate than a cell phone showing a text?
I did a watercolor wash with Zig brushes for the background. Then just kind of played around with sizes for phone. The back is a pink glitter paper I think I purchased at JoAnns. And then a scrap of lavender. I used a corner rounder punch to look more like a phone. The white layer ifs for the phone screen. The text was done on the computer printed on a blue paper, cut out and rounded corners. After seeing a text on my phone today, I think it should have had a small comma area to look more like a word bubble. I punched out a circle for the home button and cut a slit of white for the earpiece. I've seen my grandaughters decorate their phons with carrying straps so I added a loop of ribbon and a flower charm.

Easter Joke

I have grandsons in 2nd and 4th grades. All the Easter cards I see are just too cutsie and babyish for boys that age so I went searching on the internet for some jokes or puns about Easter that I could put on cards. Here is one I found. The 2nd grader is a big riddle fan so I know he will love this one.
And the answer inside:
Papers are from scrap file. The bunny stamp is The Angel Company, colored with pencils, fussy cut and placed in the "grass" cut with fringe making shears. The eggs are Inkadinkadoo, also colored with pencils and fussy cut. The riddle is done on computer and then die cut with Word Bubble dies from SU. The chick inside lost its label so I don't know who made it.. The answer in another Word Bubble die is sponged with orange ink to make it stand out. The egg is Indadinkadoo. after coloring it and cutting out, I used a Sharpie marker to make a zig-zag crack and cut along those lines then glued it on so it looks broken.
I will submit this to CASology challenge who's cue word is Egg. Although this card is for my grandson, I printed out additional riddles and will make some like this for the Send A Smile 4 Kids who is having an Anything Goes challenge.

Bunnies & Balloons

I have some fun spring colors and patterns and a cute bunny to share today.

He is covering his mouth and laughing having a good time floating with the balloons. This is a old stamp from The Angel Company, purchased long before anyone was making coordinating die cuts. So I had to fussy cut it. The 3 eggs are Inkadinkadoo, colored with pencils and cut out. Sentiment is from SU. The plaid and polka dots are from The Paper Studio.
I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

Also entering in Global Design Project challenge to use balloons.
And Tuesday Throwdown challenge to layer it up.
My twofer for today uses the same sketch. Another bunny from The Angel Company.
Naughty little bunny threw the eggs out of the basket so he could hop in. But he is so cute!

Easter Tag

Just Us Girls challenge for this week is using a tag. So I used not just 1 but 3. I like the look of a background tag with my focal point one.
The tags are dies from Sizzix. The designer papers are from The Paper Studio. The image and sentiment are from The Angel Company colored with colored pencils.

Freshly Made Sketch

Today's Easter Card is inspired by the beautiful Watercolor Design Paper that SU had a couple of years ago. It is discontinued and I have been using it sparingly. I wish they would bring it back. There were so many pretty patterns. This card features both sides of one of the papers.
The sentiment is also SU. I put some Wink of Stella on the dots to make them shine.

Easter Chick

When you make cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids, the holidays come early so there is time to send the cards in and then be forwarded to the hospitals. So today I have an Easter card for their challenge.
The DP is from SU's Moonlight paper stack. There have been so many fun designs in that selection. The chick doesn't have a label. The sentiment and the little egg on the side are Inkadinkadoo.
I used the sketch from Mojo Monday

2 New Techniques.

One of my crafting resolutions this year was to try some new techniques. So here goes. Today I have a card with the shaving cream techniques back ground and some emboss resist water coloring.

I used SU Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, and Daffodil Delight reinkers in the shave cream for the background. I like the look but I'm thinking way too messy to use very often. I was able to get 4 pieces at one time. The flower is from SU Simply Sketched, stamped with VersaMark, embossed with black embossing powder and then colored with an aqua painter with Daffodil, Hello Honey, orange, and Mossy Meadow. I dabbed a bit of Wink of Stella on the flower center. The sentiment is an old one from SU

Quick Cards

I've used up a lot of my stash cards lately. So today I've replenishing. This sketch from Freshly Made Sketches makes for clean and simple and quick cards.

The first one:
The cardstock and DP are from SU. The gulls and sentiment are SU Wetlands. I lightly colored pool party on the bottom of the white piece then stamped the image in Smokey Slate. I added a strip of aqua shimmer paper that gives the hint of water. Inside I did a computer sentiment and then stamped the grasses image from the same set on the lower corner.
Here are some others I made with the same sketch.
