Snow Owls

Cardz 4 Guyz new challenge is #310, Birds. I found a Snow Owl stamp that I haven't used for a while. It is unlabled so I can't give credit.

I don't know but it looks like these guys have been partying a little too hardy. LOL!

They are colored with SU Blends. The sentiment stamp is Crackerbox Place raised up with foam tape. I added 3 sparkly punched snowflakes for accents.

I wanted a blue pattern for my background and found this one in  Stampin' Up!'s Tea Boutique suite.

3 Hearts

Tuesday rolling around again and a great sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. Can you believe it is only 3 1/2 weeks until Christmas? Have you finished your holiday cards? I am going to make do with the ones I have already done. I make a lot of Valentine's cards. I am making several for a class for ladies at the church. We are going to make Valentines for out shut in members. Then I always make some for my kids and grandkids.  So I am gettting started on them.

The sketch is designed as a mini slimline card but feel free to alter the dimension. I made mine as an A2.

I stayed pretty close to the sketch except for the circle. Did you know the LOVE sculpture was by Robert Indiana. I am from Indiana. His has a tilted "O" but I guess for copyright issues this die cut is straight.

I used a Cuttlebug heart E/F for the background. Punched red glitter hearts and hung them with thin gold ribbon from the stash. The LOVE is a die cut from Marianne Creations. I mounted the white piece on a gold shiny mat and then on a red cardstock. IRL it is so shiny and sparkly, I am sorry that doesn't photo well.

Stay tuned next week I will be showing 2 hearts. You can find my 1 heart card here. Does this mean I am going to have to keep the progression going? LOL!

Koala in the Forest

I just received this paper from Stampin' Up! called Ever Eden (now retired) The leafy pattern made me think of koalas hiding among the trees. But, I didn't want the koala to contrast too much like  it would if I put it on a white cardstock label. So using the SU Stamparatus and Evening Evergreen ink, I stamped the koala, from Wild & Sweet stamp set, directly to the DSP  repeatedly until it was dark enough. Because there are gold leaves in the background, I added a gold metallic strip to the edge. The sentiment is old one punched with an SU label punch. I love the subtle look of this card. and am sure I will be trying this again. Sometimes an experiment turns out just right.

Fun Birthday

Wow, is it Tuesday again? Here is the new sketch for this week from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I hope you have fun with it and will share your creation.

I made a really fun birthday card. At my age we have to laugh and make fun of our birthdays.

The cow (isn't she just adorable?) is a digital from Bugaboo. The "Holy Cow" sentiment is in the same set. I did "Another Birthday?" on the computer. For the bottom elements, I used a strip of gold ribbon and red plaid ribbon. I guess I will have to say the third strlip is the sentiment. To balance the red, I added 3 red sequins. The background is a stencil that I have had forever and don't know who makes it.

Inside, I did a computer sentiment and surrounded it with more cow spot stencil.

I know my "29" year old friend will love this one.

Happy V Day

Made from scraps and a left over vellum sheet.

The die cut heart and sentiment are from SU!.

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches rotated to portrait.

1 Heart

I love making Valentine's I remember my Mom gathering all the paper supplies and helping me make Valentine's for my school classmates. Now, I usually only make Valentine's for my grandkids but this year I have picked up a sales outlet in the local hospital gift shop. As well, I am helping a group of ladies at my church make Valentines for our shut ins. So that means lots of cards. The last 3 days, I have made Valentine's: 3 hearts (coming later), 2 hearts(coming later), and today 1 heart. Using the sketch #714 from Sketch Saturday

I've used paper's retired from SU!. These 2 papers are the reverse of the same sheet. The heart is a SU! die cut as well as the sentiment. The lacy piece under the heart is also SU!

Thinking of You

Today for Tuesday Morning Sketches I used some Handpenned Paper from SU! I love the watercolor look of it. Just a pretty pattern and color for comfort cards.

This is a quick and easy sketch so I actually made 2 cards.

The sentiment is from SU, die cut, with a clear gem added for accent.
Here is Tuesday Morning Sketches sketch

I hope you will check out all the design team cards and add your own creation.

First Valentine

I know, it is early to start on Valentine's. I am trying to come up with a design for a class I am doing for a women's group at church. They want a demonstration of card making and want to make Valentine's for our nursing home people. I saw this sketch at Let's Craft and Create. I think it will be easy enough for them to put together. This one looks appropriate for a man. Maybe some pinks, vellum, and feminine paper for the ladies.

Sorry for the tech issues. I go back to the blog and the sketch has disappeared.

This check paper is Gingham Cottage by Stampin" Up!. There is a narrow strip of metallic gold in the background. The sentiment is an old one by SU! Punched hearts for accents and to fill up some of the blank space. Then I sponged around the edge so it would show up on the white background.

Sparkly Snowflakes

I hope you have had a crafty weekend. Welcome to Tuesday and another fun sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I used snowflakes in blue glitter paper for the stars in the sketch. The background has snowflakes embossed on it. Two strips of shiny silver paper border the white strip. The sentiment is from an old retired SU stamp set. I offset the snowflakes to showcase the embossed background.

Fall Colors

I love the colors of fall. all the warm yellows, oranges, and reds. My card today reflects all of those shades. Although here, all those beautiful leaves have fallen and are now just a dull brown all over the yard and deck. Fortunately my husband made quick work of them with his leaf blower--you know men love playing with their toys too.

I took a scrap of watercolor paper and sprinkled on Brushos and spritzed with water. When that was dry, I used a Serendipity Stamps to stamp leaves with Versamark ink  and embossed it with gold embossing powder. That is backed with brown cardstock. The gold stripe vellum is also a leftover from SU. The background paper is really an orange that for some reason looks gold here.  I found it at a yard sale and it did not have a label. The orange sparkly ribbon was also in my stash.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!, stamped and fussy cut.

Sweet Baby

Who doesn't like making baby cards? They are so fun and can be so cute. I used a NBUS stamp from Whimsey Stamps called Peeking Giraffes. You can find it here Whimsey Stamps has the cutest images and sentiments too.

I found this pink paper in my stash. I thought it would be a fun print with that cute giraffe. I die cut a square window and have the giraffe peeing through. Looks like she is looking for that sweet baby. I colored the giraffe with SU Blends. Of course, she needed a pink bow in her hair. The sentiments are old ones without labels. I stamped them on scraps of white and fussy cut them.

Entering this in Shopping Our Stash challenge #482--I only have EYES for you.

NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff). The giraffe stamp is new.

Summer Sailing

Using this fun sketch today from Tuesday Morning Sketches. It is a fun and challenging one. We would be happy to see your interpretation and hope you will join us this week.

This one is a great sketch for all those scraps we have laying around just begging to be used. 😀

I used the leftover strips from some retired SU paper. After I attached them to the card base, it made me think of a summer sunrise on a lake. Thus the sailboat image. The sentiment is also SU retired. So there, I made a masculine birthday card with out really setting out to do that!

Inside I added a computer sentiment and decorated with a sun and a strip color as a hint of water made with a SU Blend pen.
