Muted Wild flowers

Trying the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and combining with Cardz 4 Galz challenge to use texture.

My card:

I used papers from SU's Thoughtful Journey. Mossy Meadow woven ribbon adds texture. The sentiment is also SU. I punched a butterfly from the same paper as the background and added black Nuvo drops for the body.

I think these muted flowers are perfect for a sympathy card.

49 and Market

I am enjoying working with the vintage look papers from 49 and Market. Both of these have a Crumb Cake base.I added a strip of wood paper to the patterned paper. The square picture is one of the cut-outs included with the papers. I winked the flowers and the dragonfly then added black Nuvo Drops to the dragonfly and iridescent gems to the flowers. The sentiment is an old, unlabled one.

This one is for Sketch Saturday

The second card with the same papers and similar design is from Try a Sketch on Tuesday

This one has a blue strip from the same paper pack and then a wood strip over it. It has the square in the center with an SU stamped sentiment and 3 square silver adhesives. The butterflies are from Simple Stories ephemera pack of butterflies.

Under the Sea

Here we are at Tuesday again with a new fun sketch by Melissa at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I've switched from Holiday cards to doing some cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids. What little girl does not like mermaids?

Picking up a color from the patterned paper, I used SU's Bubble Bath pink for a card base. The white is embossed with waves that have a blue ink pad lightly rubbed over it to highlight the waves. The patterned design is from SU. I don't have a dome die cut so I started with a large circle and then cut off the sides and bottom. I think it works well. The mermaid is an old unlabeled stamp, colored and fussy cut. The sea shells are in the same set, stamped on tan paper and lightly colored with some pink. The sentiment is also unlabeled and stamped in blue and trimmed down.

If you have a lot of excess of cards and looking for a source for them check out Send a Smile 4 Kids which donates to children's hospitals. Check out their blog for rules and needs.

I hope you have fun with this sketch and will share a creation with us at

Nature Elements

This week's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is to use 3 favorite colors.

Blue and Green are my go to colors for guys. I usually add a neutral--in this case Crumb Cake and a nature element like raffia.

The card base is Crumb Cake, then a brown mat, and paper from 49 and Main.  In the neutral space I stamped 2 forest trees  (Mossy Meadow) .from a retired SU set. Then made grass at the base with a Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blend pen. The sentiment is also SU. adding raffia ribbon adds more to the nature feel.

Inside, I did a computer sentiment and stamped a single forest tree at the bottom.

Floral Birthday

This new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. is pretty simple but you can make it as elaborate as you want. It is a great sketch to do multiples

.

I kept it even more simple by letting my patterned paper interpret the design.

The paper s from Mintay Papers 6x6 pad called Blissful Time. The sentiment is from SU and stamped on another piece from the same pad. I added 3 iridescent gems in that upper  right corner. And done in under 10 minutes,

I hope you can join us at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Get a good start on those Christmas Cards. Share your creation with us.

Festive Balloons

Using this sketch from Sketch Saturday

I made a fun festive card for Send A Smile4 Kids

I've used some retired SU products. The card is preprinted with the blended colors. The confetti is from a card pack. I trimmed it down to 2" and used a topper punch. The balloons are also from an SU punch. The rainbows were on another of the cards. I trimmed on row to go across the center. I used a white gel pen to do the accents on the balloons. The bottom 2 have Wink of Stella on them and the larger green balloon has glossy accents.

I left off a sentiment so they can use it for any occasion.

Masculine Thanksgiving Card

Sharing a masculine Thanksgiving card today for Cards 4 Guyz (A taste of autumn or fall) and The Card Concept (Pumpkin Season)

The base is Crumb Cake. The DSP is retired from SU!  The sentiment and pumpkins and leaves are all stickers. I tied some raffia ribbon to add to the masculine and fall feel.

I made this clean and layered card from this inspiration photo.

More Vintage

I am really enjoying doing vintage--with the help of 49 and Market. It is so easy when the designer paper does most of the work.

I started with SU Crumb Cake card stock. Then the patterned paper, torn on the left edge. I used Tim Holtz Tea Dye ink to sponge around the edges and some in the middle. The tag is an SU die cut and sentiment. I tied it up with linen thread.

Entering this at Let's Craft and Create with an optional twist of add a bow.

Vniage

Tuesday and time for a new sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches This one by Melissa. I hope you have fun with it.

A fellow design team member Walter does vintage really well and has inspired me to try it.  I really like the look but kind of struggle with it. I found some wonderful vintage looking paper from 49 and Market. The paper and some rub-ons make vintage so much easier. This pack of paper is called Vintage Artistry Moonlit Garden. The colors are in the gray tones.

This paper had mostly blank space in the center. It was 8"x6" and I trimmed it down to 4x5 1/2. I die cut an oval frame from another of the papers in this pack. I used the inside cutout from the frame as a mask and used a line stencil from My Favorite Things to make the diagonal lines. I used SU's Basic Gray ink. Then stamped an SU sentiment and glued the frame on top. The butterfly is a fussy cut one from a sheet of the paper pack.

I love the look. I think I achieved vintage look.

I hope you will try our sketch and play along this week.

The current challenge at Cardz 4 Gals is showcase your patterned paper so I am entering there too.

Art Impressionism

Can you believe this is the last Tuesday of October. Christmas is coming fast and I have been working furiously on Christmas and other cards for a Christmas Marketplace coming next weekend.

Melissa has a fun new sketch for us at Tuesday Morning Sketches

I have a 6x6 pack of paper from SU! that looks like impressionist art. I had 3 2" strips left over so trimmed them to use here.

For the focal point, I used SU Painted Poppies. I colored the stamp with markers and then stamped it on a piece of white. It gives a bit of a watercolor look. The sentiment is an old unlabeled one.

Inside is a computer sentiment and I stamped a single flower from the same set.

I look forward to see how you will interpret the sketch.

Frosty the Snowman

Tuesday Morning Sketches has a new sketch by Debbie.

You know shapes are a suggestion. You can use any shape and orientation you like as long as the sketch is evident. I flipped my side to side and used a snowman for the oval.

I die cut 3 sizes of circles to make the snowman. I glued it just off the edge and then trimmed the excess, The hat is made with a trimmed down rectangle die with a black strip and red strip at the bottom of it. Die cut holly leaves and red sparkly dot accent the hat. I fussy cut a nose and scarf. A sharpie was used for the eyes, mouth and buttons. Red ink on a q-tip made the rosy cheeks. The black gingham is from SU backed by red and glued to a white card base. The sentiment is SU on a fish tail banner. I added 3 silver glitter paper die cut snowflakes.

I look forward to seeing how you interpret our sketch.

JOY Tag

New challenge this week at The Paper Players is "Tag Your It

When I was searching through Christmas stuff, I found a metal stencil I don't even remember having.  I pulled it out and made a bunch of Christmas tags with it. When this challenge came up, I decided to use one of the tags on a card.

I started with a Kraft card base. The red stripe background is retired Stampin" Up!, The red stripes are not as bright as Real Red and not as dark as Cherry Cobbler. The tagis vanilla from JoAnn's. I sponged red around the tag to make it stand out.  For the stencil, I used Real Red, Balmy Blue, and Mossy Meadow with a red glitter gel pen for the holly berries. A Cherry Cobbler ribbon ties it all up.

Peace.

For this week's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches

I have chosen a serene blue peaceful card.

The card base is Blueberry. The paper is retired from Stampin" Up!, The paper is 6x6. I cute the 4" x 5 1/4 and split it off center. The center rectangle is from the remaining 2" strip. The sentiment is from SU. The pine branch is also Blueberry swiped with some white ink. A punched snowflake anchors the corner. I used some clear glitter glue on the snowflake to make it sparkle.

I hope you have some time to create this week and share a creation with us.

Autumn

Today is a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  This is a fun one. I look forward to seeing how everyone  interprets it.

I have a parody on a Christmas song:

It's beginning to look a lot like autumn, everywhere you go, take a look at the reds and  yellows, clinging to the trees....

I used a Darice E/F for the leafy background and sponged lightly with yellow, orange, and red. I used Stampin" Up!'s curvy dies to cut the layers of orange, yellow, and red. I used alcohol markers and alcohol to color a piece of vellum and stamped leaves from Serendipity Stamp. The vellum alone did not show up well so I backed it with white. The sentiment is an old unlabeled one. This was all placed on Kraft card base.

Go on over to the blog and check out the design team makes. I hope you have some time this week to craft and share a creation with us.

Nativity

October 1st--time to get busy on those Christmas cards. A good opportunity is using this new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketche

s

You can always change the shape--just so the sketch is recognizable. I used a rectangle.

The back ground is a scrap from SU. This sweet image is from Stampendous. I colored it, then cut it with a deckled edge rectangle. I cut another frame from the same rectangle. Adding a silver and white ribbon anchors the image.
I hope you get some time to create this week and will share with us at

Grinch Christmas

Playing along with the sketch from The Paper Players, I made a Grinch theme card.

I used a Lemon Lime card base. (Because the Grinch is green). I found this sentiment in clip art. I copied and resized it, then trimmed it to fit. It is backed with gold (for the glitter of Christmas). The red/white stripe  (for the candy canes)  happened to be already trimmed and at the top of my Christmas scraps. I trimmed a scrap of white and used a cuttlebug snowflake E/F. (for the snowfall of a white Christmas) The Santa hat (worn by the Grinch) is also a clip art, printed and fussy cut. I popped it up on a dimensional. I used a snow puffy pen on the brim and ball. Three red glitter hearts embellish the edge. (Because his heart grew three times that day)

This was so fun to make.  I usually make a few Grinch cards for families with small children.

Here is another design for one of them

Here is the sketch for The Paper Players

These both have embossing so am also entering at Cardz 4 Guyz

Non Traditional Christmas Colors

Welcome to another Tuesday Morning Sketches with this new sketch by Melissa. She does a great job of coming up with new sketches for us to use.

I know it will surprise you but I totally CASed the sketch.

Both patterned papers are retired from SU. They both have the same subtle silver leaf pattern. Those pinks were cut from the same sheet but one looks pink and the other a bit of coral. Maybe just the light reflection. There is a silver piece behind the vertical strips. It is reflecting the light coming through the window. Doesn't that make you think of theAurora Borealis>? The sentiment is SU, embossed with silver. The die cut oval is popped up with foam squares. I used purple gems in the upper right corner. They kind of blend into the background but add just enough sparkle.

I hope you have fun trying this fun sketch and share with us.
