More Thomas

I am back today with more Thomas the Tank Engine cards from the scrapbook paper I found while cleaning out my craft room. See others here) I know the little guys at Send A Smile 4 Kids will love these cards.
This week's Just Us Girls challenge is wild card with paper piecing. This card has lots of paper piecing.

I used a SU folder to emboss the lines. Then with a Q-tip and black ink, I darkened sets of lines to make train track. The cross bars are with a fine tip pen. The images are all cut from the scrapbook paper.

That concludes the Thomas paper so I'll need to go looking for something else in my stash--and it is a large one! 

Thomas the Tank

Yesterday I cleaned out my craft supplies and found some Thomas the Tank scrapbook paper I had used for my grandsons about 5 years ago. I really like Thomas and am sad to see my grandsons grow out of this phase. They really grow up too fast don't they? I think it will really make some little boys happy making it into cards for Send a Smile 4 Kids.

Hard to see in the photo but I used a wide stripe SU impression folder on the white and then made "train tracks" by sponging on some black and drawing in the ties with a black fine marker. The sentiment, image and arrow are all cut from the paper. Inside I added another strip of the paper. I really wanted to put googly eyes on Thomas but these will be for the little guys. I'm afraid they would get pulled off and put in the mouth.

The other card I made with the same supplies. I added some "steam" clouds by punching out white circles, whacking at them with my snips and then sponging some gray ink.

Road Trip

I am back from a week's road trip with friends. I guess that inspired this card.

I used a Kraft card base. Then a layer of ivory and SU's designer paper--kind of like all the orange cones and barrels we saw. The car is an old Inkadinkadoo stamp colored with pencils. The "tire treads" are from a set of grunge stamps from STAMPlorations. Then I added 3 orange pearls for "bumps" in the road. With all the construction sites we went through, there were certainly a lot of bumps in the road! The return trip is covered on the inside with the tire tracks going in the opposite way.

Girl Congrats!

Entering the Curtain Call challenge of "Totally Tassel" with this inspiring picture.


I used 3 strips from my paper stash and made the tassel effect with fringe scissors. The cute bunny is from SU's Cheerful Critters. And a little gold star for the achiever.

I think this will be perfect for my niece who is "graduating" kindergarten next week.

There is a challenge of anything goes at Send A Smile 4 Kids. I will duplicate this one to put in my collection that goes to Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Almost One Layer

I am so excited to have been selected as Lesley's choice for last week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge. You can see that card here.

This week's sketch is very CAS. I did one layer except for popping up the circle with the flowers.

I used SU Painted Petals again for the flowers and leaves in the circle. I just love that set and have used it so much already. It creates such pretty scenes. I understand it will be discontinued as of June 1 so if you want one now is the time to grab it. The diagonal dots are also from that set. The leaves behind the circle and the sentiment are from Crazy About You from SU. Inks are SU Real Red and Certainly Celery and StazOn Black.

Pick 3 Challenge

The "Take Your Pick" challenges at The Kraft Journal are always fun because there are so many possible combinations.

I am combining it with the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I picked pink, ruffles, and stamped. Oh, I also added a tag. All on a Kraft card base.

The flower is from Stampendous. I colored it with water color pens and then stamped. I used a crimper on the white and pink banners to look like ruffles. Behind the tag is a punched scalloped circle--also looks like ruffles? The sentiment is from Studio G. The butterfly is with a SU punch, sponged with a little darker pink to make it standout. And always bling with some pink rhinestones for the butterfly body.
I like to add a little extra touch inside so I stamped more flowers in the corner of my computer made sentiment.

Age Jokes

I am at the age where we begin to joke about our age.  Hey, if we can;t laugh at ourselves, we are truly in trouble. So for Case This Sketch this week, I am doing just that--joking about my age as well as my good friend the recepient of this card.

The background is some paper I found in a bundle at a garage sale. There was no label so I can't give credit. I did the sentiment on the computer, die cut it with a Nesties label die, attached 3 ribbon banners and popped it up. The sketch only has 2 banners but the 3 balanced better with the shape of the label.The inside is also a computer sentiment decorated with stamped dots from SU's Precious Petals set.

Painted Petals

After 5 attempts I think I am finally able to share what I have done with Painted Petals set from SU. I love what I've been seeing on blogs with this stamp. It gives a soft watercolor look.

I tried stamping stems first, then the flowers wouldn't come out right. Then I tried flowers and added stems later but they didn't always fit. Then I would have one with ink smears. Usine a combo of the two techniques, I finally came up with one to keep. I used Melon Mambo and Certainly Celery inks. It seemed to need a little something to fill the white space at the top so I added a butterfly using the SU punch. Pink gemstones make up the butterfly body and center of 2 of the flowers. The banner strips are from my scrap bin.

The Whole Herd

Today I have kind of a liberal interpretation of Tuesday Morning Sketches

My neighbor gave me some card making supplies that had some window cards in them. So I was looking at the sketch and thought that could be a window in the center so here is what I came up with:

I used stamps from Newton's Nook called Farmyard Friends. To emphasize the window, I circled it with the corn stamp. Each of the animals are stamped, cut out, and peek out the window as if they are popping up out of the cornfield. I didn't think this card called for ribbon so I sponged some green at the bottom for grass and stamped the sentiment over it. The 3 pearls at top are yellow and orange found in my stash.
To cover up the back of the animals I used a cow print DP.
