layers on layers

Card 4 Guyz is asking for masculine cards with layers--3 or more.

WARNING1 Don't stare at this card too long unless you are sitting in a secure chair. You just might get a bit dizzy.

I used 3 different black patterns, intentionally not matting each pattern on a plain black--make it more blurry. I don't remember where this sentiment is from but I printed it out on the computer. I cut it in a rectangle and used the edge of a circle punch to make the corners. For a pop of color, I backed the sentiment with red.

Inside the card is another computer made sentiment.

A fun card for anyone approaching the time of needing bifocals.

Savannah Sunset

Welcome to a new Tuesday Morning Sketches , This is one you may want  to come back to frequently.

When searching for a patterned paper for this card, I found the last pice of this one from Enjoy the Journey by Stampin" Up! It reminds me of the pictures of sunset on the savannah in Africa.

I measured the DSP to 4x5 1/4 and trimmed off increasing sizes to fit. The sunset needs a large ball of sun. That is die cut in a yellow and sponged on the edges with orange.  The die cut tree is a retired SU! one.

I left off a sentiment, I can't decide what occasion for which to use this. What are your thoughts? What does it look like to you?

This is one of those  quick and easy card--less than 10 minutes once I decided what to use.

I look forward to see others interpretation of the sketch. Come on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches and share your creation.

Red, White, and Blue

A clean and simple card for The Card Concept with this Patriotic Picnic mood board.

Clean and simple is a rare style for me. I always look at it and decide it needs something more. I really restrained myself this time. I was inspired by the red checked tablecloth, the flag stars, and the wicker basket.

I used a few scraps and die cut circles. The kraft circle is embossed with a basket look E/F. The hello sentiment is from SU, stamped and trimmed.

I think this card has a bit of masculine feel so I am entering at Double Trouble Challenge. Thing One is Masculine. Thing 3 is Plaid or Check. Thing 2 is entering at Festive Friday Challenge with an inspo list. I chose blue, plaid, die cuts.

The layout is sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

Big Sentiment

Hey there, time for a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches And this week we are asking you to use a big sentiment.

So how is this for a BIG sentiment?

I rotated the sketch to landscape. Finished off my BIG sentiment with a TINY one.. It took me awhile to find something for those banners on the sketch. Finally I remembered  the big sunglasses from SU1 and the tiny sailboat that is unbranded. I think there are lots of Dads who would like to put on the shades and go for a sail. The big happy is a die cut for a shaped card from The Stamps of Life.  You can find it  here.

You can either stamp a sentiment directly if you use a white card base or use the solid background die to do a sentiment on the inside. I did one on the computer and then die cut it and sponged the navy around the edges.

There are so many occasions to use this die. I made a graduation card using the school colors.

Hop on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to check out the inspiration from the design team. I hope you will share your creation with us.

Biker Birthday

The new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz  is Peddle Wheels in honor of National Bike Month.

I have a card with wheels and a motor--no peddling Do you know a man who rides motorcycles? This card is for him.

The papers are from Stampin' UP! The tire tracks and the orange are two sides of the same paper. Also in that pack was a sheet that had multiple motorcycles; I just fussy cut one of them. These were in the mini catalog so probably are no longer available.:( The sentiment is also an old SU! one. To bring out the orange in the paper, I filled in some highlights on the bike with an orange marker and then some silver gel pen on the spokes.

Inside I added a computer sentiment and another strip of the tire tracks.

I used this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

Soft Colors

Another Tuesday, a new fun sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches

Paper, stamp, sentiment,  and e/f are from Stampin' Up! I like the softness of pink and gray so needs to be a sympathy card.

This is a great go to sketch when you need a quick card. Check out the design team cards for some inspiration and create your own card to share with us.

AMENDED: TUESDAY 5/16
I made this one to show another version of the sketch in landscape orientation. This one is for Cardz 4 Guyz

Under the Weather

Here it is. a warm spring day and I am stuck inside with a sinus infections or it may be a bad allergy to all the flying pollen. At least I feel like making a card. This one is for about how I feel.

I used a Kraft card base. An old Stampendous stamp. Distress ink in tea dye. Vanilla linen paper. This little guy is getting his rest and drinking a lot of fluid.

I am entering in Double Trouble Paper Crafting challenge. They say it is Pack Rat Day. I am pretty good about not doing that in my house except my craft room. That is a story for another day:). Thing One says we are to use one of those paper sacks we hoard or some Kraft type product. Thing three says we don't have to actually use a rodent but any animal. If we meet those two requirements, we can also enter at Crafter's Cafe

For the Fisherman

A Father's Day card for your special Dad who loves to fish.

I used a wavy e/f from Stampin' Up! on the Blueberry background. Found a piece of water paper in my stash. I stamped the sentiment on white with Tim Holz distress ink and die cut with a SU diorama die to make the "pond". I sponged some blue around the pond edges. The fish and bubbles are Poppy Stamps.

Inside I did my own sentiment on the computer and added more fish and bubbles.

DAD

I've finished Mother's Day cards and sent them off to Send A Smile 4 Kids so time to start on Father's Day cards. Am I the only one thinking time is just racing by?

At  Cardz 4 Guyz, the challenge is to "get messy, use ink, paint, or sprays. The stripe pattern paper is a retired Stampin' Up!, I used an alcohol ink marker to fill in the spaces of the stripes. The letters are also SU! die cuts.
For a little extra, I added red/white twine.

Inside is a computer made sentiment with a strip of the stripe paper.

Also linking to Let's Craft and Create where the challenge is ribbon, lace, or twine.

Men's Birthday

Happy Tuesday. Welcome to a new sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

When my son was 4 or 5, the TV show CHIPS was popular. His ambition at that time was to grow up to own a motorcycle and shoot a gun. Not my dream for him for sure. Fortunately, he wisened up. Does not own a motorcycle or a gun.  My card today is for that man who does like motorcycles.

The papers are from Ella & Viv--reverse sides of the same paper. I fussy cut the motorcycle from SU's Ready to Ride DSP. The stars banner is the other side of the motorcycle design. The blue scalloped is Textured Shimmer from SU. The sentiment is an unlabeled one.

Inside is a computer generated sentiment and a narrow strip of the star paper.

Thank you for checking out my card. I hope you will create something and share it with Tuesday Morning Sketches

Bright Butterfly

Welcome to the first Tuesday in May.  Personally I hope Mother Nature will finally come through with some real spring weather. Here, it has been cold, dreary, rainy for most of the last month. We get a brief day of warm sunshine and then back to cold.

It is time for sketch #705 from Tuesday Morning Sketches

A benefit of cleaning and straightening in the craft room is finding a forgotten bunch of butterfly design paper at the bottom of the heap. I used one of the reverse side for the background and cut out one of the butterflies for the focal point. I picked up the yellow accents in the butterfly to repeat in other areas of the card.  That gingham is really a bright yellow. I'm not sure why it is photographing as peach. The sentiment is an old SU! one. Three little gems complete the card.

Inside is another fussy cut butterfly decorating a computer made sentiment.

Hop on over to Tuesday Morning Sketches to check out all the design team cards. I hope you will give this sketch a try and share your creation with us.
