Grad Card 2

Another graduation card. This one for the local school whose colors are red/white/blue and the team name is Stars.

The red star paper is from SU. The blue star paper is from the scrap box. Never throw anything away. You never know when that one last scrap is going to be the right thing. That blue scrap is 20+ years old. I bought it when my kids were in high school.  I did the Dr. Seuss quote on the computer and then die cut it into a circle. The stars are an SU punch. I highlighted them with a bit of white ink. The grad hat is an old Stampabilities stamp.  Time saving hint:  I knew I would want several of the grad hats so stamped a bunch on cardstock and cut them with the Scan 'N Cut.

Inside is a computer generated message accented with 3 more stars.

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches It is perfect for this occasion.

Grad Card

I know it is early but I had a request to make several graduation cards so thought I should get started.  The thing about designing cards is they can be customized to the person or situation. The school colors are black and gold.

I embossed a gold foil sheet from a Kaiser Kraft paper pad with a Sizzix EF. The graduation cap and the sentiment are old Stampabilities stamps. I secured strips of gold and black ribbons with glue dots and then popped up the cap with foam tape.

Pretty Flowers

Still hibernating here with 10 inches of snow and 10 degree temperatures. So a floral card is what is called for to make me think of warmer times.

A new week and a new challenge from Make the Cards Challenge

This is a total Stampin' Up! card--papers, sentiment, flower and leaves punches, circle die cuts.  The pretty floral is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. We all love freebies, right?

The theme this week is circles

Today is also for Tuesday Morning Sketches

I am so excited to have won Featured Creator from Make the Cards Challenge with this card:

Cheery Birthday

An elderly lady (well at least more elder than me 😆😆😆) from my church is celebrating her birthday while in a nursing home, away from family. Our state is still restricting visitors in nursing homes. She has recently recuperated from COVID-19. We are doing a birthday card shower for her.  She was a card maker and beautiful artist. I know she will love getting a handmade card.

I think this one looks spring like and cheery.

Except for the card base, this is all from my scrap box. Since I will be mailing the card, instead of raised gems, I punched out 3 tiny flowers for the embellishments. As I set and looked at it, it seemed to need another little accent. So I added a butterfly punched from the orange gingham. I think it draws the eye more to the sentiment.

Balloon Twofer

The Twofer Card Challenge this month is Balloons.

I chose a hot air balloon with a cute chick from DeNami Designs.

The first is a graduation card for a local school with the school colors of black and gold.

The designer background is from a pre-printed card set from The Paper Studio. I colored the balloon and chick with gold star gel pen and SU blends. It is popped up with a foam square. The SOAR is die cut in cold metallic paper with Tim Holtz dies. I added 5 punched gold star accents. Inside, I added a strips of black and metallic gold to reinforce the school colors.

The second card is a Valentine

I used an SU embossing heart folder on the background. The arrow is a die cut from CAS-UAL Fridays Stamps. The sentiment from SU just fits on the arrow.

This second one is also for Let's Squash It!! #5 challenge with theme of Love and Red.

For this one, I used the sketch from Fresly Made Sketches

Congratulations Grad

I usually need a few graduation cards so when the challenge from Make the Cards Challenge popped up in my feed, I immediately thought of graduation.

I love the Dr. Seuss book Oh the Places You Will Go" for graduation quotes.

The background is from a card set I have had for a few years. The front and back are both decorated with the world map design. I cut it in half and can make 2 cards from it. I did the sentiment on the computer, die cut it with an SU die and backed it with gold foil paper. The balloons are from DaNami Designs. I colored them with gold star gel pen and black which are the school colors. The balloons are popped up with foam squares. Inside is a quote from the book and the congratulations sentiment.

I added strips of gold foil paper and black to further emphasize the school colors.

Easter Chicks

Well, wouldn't you know, we have had weeks of gloomy days. But on groundhog's day the sun comes up bright and light. So if the groundhog sees his shadow is it 6 more weeks of winter? Or is that only 6 weeks until spring? Not too concerning if you can spend your time crafting.

I am thinking spring, no matter what the groundhog says.

Make the Cards Challenge #2 is to use shades of purple

How fortunate to find a background paper that has all the shades. It is from Ms. Sparkle at JoAnn's. But I didn't stop there with the purples. The gingham is a scrap from Stampin' Up! The chick and sentiment are also from SU. I colored the chick with Stampin' Blend pens. Accents are 3 punched flower blooms in a very pale purple. I placed 3 Nuvo drops to the flower centers.

This will go to Send A Smile 4 Kids. I made a whole set of these in spring colors. I think the kids will be delighted with them.

Pink and yellow

And even in green and blue.
