Grinch Christmas

AAARGH! I hate when my computer updates and decides I need a "new and improved" Blogger page.
It took me awhile and searching help feature to finally figure out the changes. So here goes.

A friend asked me to make her some Grinch theme cards for Christmas.
The papers are not labeled. A friend gave me a bunch of papers when she cleaned out for a move. Gotta love friends who support your crafting habit!  I Googled "Grinch sayings" and found some printable ones. I copied and resized it, printed it, and trimmed it down to fit. For all the glitter of Christmas:  gold glitter strip behind sentiment and gold glitter punched star in upper right corner. For snow at Christmas: 3 punched snowflakes glued on and coated with clear glitter glue. The Grinch wore a Santa hat so that is also clip art, fussy cut and winked to make it shiny. A heart indicates the Grinch's heart grew 3 times that day.

Candy Stripes

I had a request to share more of the cards made from Stampin" Up! Memories and More Christmas Card pack. I made these a while back but hadn't posted them.

Then when The Card Concept Christmas in July picture inspiration photo came out, I saw they reflected the red and white gift wraps. I used my go to style of clean and layered.

In the card pack were red/white candy stripe cards. I covered the image that was in the center with smaller cards from the pack and stamped 2 different images (both from SU!). The snowman was colored with SU Blender pens and decorated with glitter glue. I added a punched snowflake and a mini sentiment. The right one was just a stamp in the center and then red sequins.

Here are pictures of a few more cards made from this card pack. I think I have 6 of each design. So way ahead of schedule on making Christmas cards this year.

Christmas Tree

I'm getting an early start, for me, on Christmas cards.  I purchased Stampin" Up! Memories and More Christmas Card Packs on clearance. I think these are designed more for scrapbooking but they make great cards too. There are 50 double sided cards of various sizes plus some stickers in each set. I have made a lot of cards from them. Unfortunately the set is retired.

My clean and simple layered card for The Card Concept features one of the Christmas tree cards from the pack. I enhanced the image with a gold glitter star topper and colored the balls with glitter pens. I dotted a clear gel glitter pen all over the tree to look like clear sparkly lights then backed it with Real Red and Mossy Meadow. The sentiment is an old one from SU, stamped with VersaMark and embossed with silver.
Here is a close up showing the glitter, although it doesn't show well.

Butterfly Twofer

I have tons of butterflies:  stamps, dies, paper. I sat and looked at all the selections and could not come up with inspiration for 2 cards to play in Darnell's Twofer Card Challenge
Today I was cleaning and organizing the scrap box and found a forgotten butterfly die hiding in the bottom. Label is lost and I don't know who makes it. Aha moment! I die cut several of them in white. And ended up with this
The onefer is bold and bright in SU's Melon Mambo over white cardstock. The sentiment on a matching strip of paper is an old one from SU, embossed in white. You have to look really close to see the clear sequins and the glitter glue added over the star shapes.

The twofer is very subdued on SU's Night of Navy card base and then blue vellum with the new SU Old World Paper EF. I love that texture. I glued the die cut onto the vellum and then turned it over and put a few dots of glue on the backside of the die to stick the vellum to the card base. The sentiment is also SU embossed in white, trimmed out and glued on.
This one is also for the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, with a little stretch of the imagination

Polka Dots

Polka dots are always fun and festive. So much fun that I made 2 cards for the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown  #461--polka dots.

The papers are leftovers and I don't know the manufacturer.  The centers of the circles are stickers I found when doing some cleaning.
I'll be adding these to my next shipment for Send A Smile 4 Kids

Riding the Seas

I love sitting at the beach watching sailboats. They are so beautiful and peaceful.
I used a combo of SU papers: pool party, mint macron, bermuda bay for this Clean and Simple card. The sailboat and waves are from Swirly Bird set (retired). I hand drew the sea gulls. The shells are old unbranded stamps, colored and fussy cut. A sentiment just didn't seem to fit so I left the front blank and will use it for a generic note card.
