Pink Circles

Just Us Girls has such a pretty photo inspiration this week. Pink lemonade and frosted cookies. Yum!

I used some old circles stamps I have had forever but seldom get pulled out. Colors are SU's Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo. Added clear sequins, gems, and a sweet double loop ribbon for accents.

Get Well Wishes

A friend asked me to make some several get well cards for her. I do well with the pretty cards needed for female get well but the masculine ones--eeeh not so much. So I challenged myself today to make a masculine get well with this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I try to follow sketches pretty closely but sometimes will change up shapes. So here is my card.

My Favorite Things stencil and SU Certainly Celery ink were used for the background. Frog dies are from Poppy Stamps.I punched out a circle then stamped the pond weeds from SU's Wetlands. There are 4 frogs in the die set and I punched out 2 sets so I could put some on the inside with my computer generated sentiment.

Laying on my desk was a set of dragonfly dies from Impression Obsession. So I am thinking I could use the same idea and make a feminine card too.

I took a scrap of white and sponged on green, blue, and purple inks and then die cut the dragonflies. The background here is Tim Holtz burlap stencil with SU Pool Party. The flower is from SU's Summer Silhouettes. The Get Well Wishes is also SU. This die has 8 dragonflies so I also added some inside.

Now while I have the sketch in front of me, I might go back and do one with the circles. Stay tuned.

Butterflies for Mom

I really like the butterflies thinlits dies from Stampin" Up!. They are so delicate and so pretty for Mother's Day cards.

I masked off and used a Tim Holtz stencil called burlap to do the backgrounds. The sentiments are from SU. After die cutting the yellow butterfly, I spattered it with some Melon Mambo ink. The pink one is from a sublte pink/yellow/blue scrap paper. The top one has SU candy dots. The bottom one has clear sequins that take on whatever background color. That is a nice feature as you always have the correct color sequins.

Birthday Blooms

Spring has finally blossomed here in southern Indiana. All the flowering trees are in full bloom. Daffodils and tulips are beautiful. I used all those colors and beauty for inspiration for this card.

I used Zig watercolor brushes to make the background on watercolor paper. Then I stamped a bunch of blossoms in Versamark and embossed them with white embossing powder. The sentiment is from Stampin" Up! I punched out some blooms and a butterfly for some embellishments.
There are a couple of challenges this card meets.

Sock Monkey

I just purchased the cutest sock monkey stamp by Stampabilities. I knew it would be so cute for cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids. And they are having a challenge this week to use an animal on a card.

I stamped the monkey in black and then used brown, red, and grey pencils to color it. Adding  google eyes just livens up the little guy. The DP is a scrap from SU. I unraveled red/white twine to make the pompom,

Deer Dad

This week's challenge at Send A Smile 4 Kids is about creating a card with an animal on it. I don't have a card for the child directly but one for a child to give to his/her father. Especially if the father is an outdoorsman.

I am not a fan of deer antlers. When I bought a 6x6 pack of a variety of vellum prints from Stampin' Up! I didn't quite know what I would do with this antler print. But. I think it works really well for Father's Day. I found the deer profile in Windows clip art, copied it to a word document, added the sentiment and then printed it on a sheet of vellum. The antler vellum is tacked to a white background, then I wrapped the deer vellum over the top and bottom. That is backed with black and then glued to a white card base.

And the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is Monochromatic so I am linking up there also.

For something I almost discarded, I've decided maybe I like the antler print after all. I guess this is why you don't discard papers you don't like. There is a chance you will eventually find a design that works for it.

Birthday Roses

A birthday card today

The background paper and the sentiment are from a SU. The pinks are all from my scrap box.

Inside I did a computer sentiment and trimmed it out with a strip of the DSP. Roses die cuts are from Ellen Hutson.

Superhero Dad

I am trying a new technique today. Smooshing. Just Us Girls challenge of using smooshing was just the incentive that I needed.

You can find a great tutorial here for different types of inks.

I used the colors of superman's cape for the smooshing. The superboy is a digi from Free Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps. I saw the quote somewhere and just did it on my computer. The shapes are Nestabilities labels.
I am adding this to my stash to send to Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Grad Stars

Our local high school colors are red, white, and blue and their team name is stars. I like to do school colors for grad cards so here is one for the stars.

I used some old paper I found when cleaning out a drawer. 23 yrs old actually. I used these patterns when I did my daughter's high school scrapbook.  Now that is major hoarding!! Is it still hoarding if you forgot you had it?

I decorated inside with more stars and a strip of red glitter tape. Sentiment was done on computer.

Cowboys

I have a card for your favorite cowboy or maybe even a cowgirl--if she likes boots.

The image is from Word clip art. I printed it off and colored the boots. The Kraft background paper has embossed diagonal stripes. The sentiment is computer generated. I used SU dimensionals to prop up the banner and then anchored the edge with a silver glitter punched star.

I added 2 more punched stars to the inside.

Girl Grad

I've been letting the "must do"s get in the way of crafting. UGH! Therefore, I am way behind in my challenges. Just 1 more day for CAS(E) This Sketch

It took me awhile to come up with a plan for this one--a real challenge! I ended up with a girl grad card.

The DP is from Paper Studio. The balloon is one of DaNami's cute chickies, colored and cut out. I did the sentiment on the computer and then cut it on the slant to emphasis the going in your direction part. Inside I did another computer message and added a stamped and cut out grad cap.

Mom

Time to start on the Mother's Day cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids

Remember when your kids would come up to get your attention and say Mom?, Mom?, Mom? like it was always a question?  Like, who else was I going to be? The Mom stamp is from Stampin' Up! but I added the ? with a matching marker. The seriously also is from SU. I die cut those with SU's Bubble Word Dies. Since there are not 2 sizes of the same shape, I die cut the red one and split it so it could overlap top and bottom to set off the words. The background is from an old paper pack from SU. Inside sentiment is done on computer and I think it came from my Hallmark card making program.

I thought this would be appropriate maybe for a teen boy to give his mom. They don't usually like really mushy ones at that age.
