Back to School

Paper Craft Star challenge 59 is a back to school project.
I know this card is an odd back to school project. A good friend's son had a bike accident 2 days before school started. He broke an ankle and is in a cast and on crutches. He is going to have a rough few weeks so I wanted to make this card to cheer him up. Also I wanted to share my designer "camo paper". I used a light tan paper and smeared Timber Brown, Pine Green, Sage Green, and Tea Dye inks at random. I'm thinking I'll have to do this for some other masculine cards. Lots of potential.

The card base is Kraft paper. The turtle stamp is from Stampabilities, colored with colored pencils. The sentiment is computer generated. I tied some twine for extra texture.

Play Date Cafe 95

Challenge 95 from the play date cafe is using this picture as inspiration

This is my interpretation:
I used Cuttlebug swirl IP on the navy background. The DP is Nana's Kids pack. The doily is from Martha Stewart. Sentiment is from TAC stamped with MS geranium and geranium sponged around the edges. The shimmer ribbon is from WalMart.

Pinterest Inspiration

Papertrey Paperdolls. uses this photo from pinterest as inspiration for this week challenge. If you are not familiar with pinterest, spend some time there. They have such inspirational photos.

I just bought Cricut's Lacy Labels and thought this would be a good chance to use it. Took some trial and error but here is my card.
The card base is Kraft. I used the PTI linen IP on the cream cardstock for texture. The sentiment is also PTI. The ribbon from WalMart is a shimmer mettalic that picks up the pink. Hard to see here but there are tiny pearls for the butterfly bodies and flower center. I think I am really going to like that Lacy Labels cartridge. It is so pretty and feminine.

29 again

The front

The inside

This card is inspired by my friend who has been "29" about 40 times!!LOL!! It suits Tuesday Throwdown challenge 62 of using non stamped sentiment. I did the Celebrate on my computer.
The candles are from Hero Art and colored with watercolor pens. The gold and red are just a pieces of Bazill from my scrap file. The 29 is cut out with Cricut. That inside sentiment is stamped (Stampabilities) because I forgot to type it when I made the inside sentiment.
I know she will soooo enjoy this card. I don't know if I can actually wait for her birthday in November to share it with her.

Play Date Cafe challenge 94

The Play Date Cafe challenge is using this picture and color combo for inspiration:

I used ivory cardstock base, turquose Bazill cardstock, and brown handmade paper from Paper Passport Collage Pad. The light covers in the picture reminded me of vellum so I used gold vellum to cut the flower with Cricut. The ribbon which is turquoise with gold running through it is from Michael's. The sentiment from Studio G. I used this sketch from Stampin 411 for the design.

"newsprint"

It is so good to be back in the craft room to create my own projects. My granddaughters visited for 2 weeks and they love to "craft" and we did lots of projects.
Then I spent 2 weeks volunteering for a project at church.
Entering some challenges is just what I need to get my mojo going again.
Papertrey Paper Dolls  is posting a challenge to use some kind of "newsprint" as a background. I really admire those crafters who can pull off the vintage & shabby chic looks. I think mine always look messy. So here is a CAS take on the "news" background.

All of the papers are from my scrap file. I don't know the maker of this DP but I found it in a really cool store in Branson MO. The border punch is Fiskar. Labels 8 Nesties for the label with black background trimmed close.  I used an orange sharpie to trace around the embossed edge of the label. Sentiment is from TAC. And OOPS! I just noticed it is a little slanted. I should have used the Stamp-a-ma-jig instead of eyeballing it. Never pays to try saving a little time.
