Valentine

I don't usually need a lot of Valentine's but I am having fun using all the different challenges to make them for Operation Write Home that sends cards to our troops. If you have lots of extra cards, check out this site. They provide a great service. This card if for the stamping 411 challenge.
White cardstock, Scrapbook Wizard DP, Michaels ribbon. 4 hearts cut from larger doily hearts. Pearl button. Sentiment stamped with alphabet stamps I've had forever and don't remember source. I hope a soldier likes my card and will send it home to his/her loved one. I am so thankful for their service and pray for their safety.

MoJo Monday Valentine

It's been while since I have created with Mojo Monday design so I am giving it a try again this week. Too late to do more Christmas creating-if it's not done, it's not going to get done. So! On to Valentines. I made this valentine for my DH. I think he is beginning to "get it". He told me last week what he likes about my card creations is that they are so "dimensional". Got to love him!! LOL!!
Paper: white card stock, Shimmer stack from DCWV, DP from HL
Ribbon: Sugar 'n Spice, Michaels
Stamp: Michaels dollar bin
Ink: pink geranium, Martha Swewart
Punch: Martha Stewart
That lacy circle is actually the edge cut from a heart doily.

criss cross

tuesday throwdown challenge is a criss cross card. I like to use these for gift cards--just tuck it in behind the inside message. The papers are from Hobby Lobby, the ribbon with butterflies from Michael's. The butterfly stamp inside is Stamp Affairs with Martha Stewart pink geranium accented with a rose star gel pen.The sentiment is Inkadinkadoo also with pink geranium. I used a corner rounder on the message card and smudged the border with light green from Stampabilities.

Baby Jesus

Laurie's Blog and tuesday throwdown challenge us to make a CAS one layer card. I just finished a set of this card for my Mom who wanted a religious theme card. White card stock, Stambabilities stamp, colored pencils, yellow stickles. And then glue on snips of raffia. That doesn't count as a layer does it? hehehe. Took no time at all  to whip these out.

non-traditional Christmas Colors

papertreypaperdolls challenge this week is a non traditional color for Christmas cards. I like neon green and pink as non traditional colors for Christmas. I found this neon green ribbon with silver snowflakes at Hobby Lobby and knew it fit the bill. The pink paisley paper and neon green are also from HL. I used green for card, then white layer and pink "Gemstones" cardstock. The little tag is from a stencil cut out, sponged with rose ink and attached with a narrow silver ribbon. The joy is from TAC tag tidbits. I don't have any silver snowflakes so punched tiny silver stars for the accent at the top. What do you think. Christmasy enough?

buttons & bows

Tuesday throwdown challenge this week is all about buttons and bows. I love using buttons and bows, so I have 2 cards this week

The first one is Christmas. I used Inkadinkadoo swirly tree with Ink Dot green ink. That is matted to a piece of gold wrapping paper. Season's Greetings I have had so long, I don't remember its source. It is stamped in the same green. Inside, I used the corner of the tree stamp to accent the top corner of the sentiment.

The next one is an everyday encouragement card. The base is Bazill light yellow. The DP has lots of glitter on the flowers. A CB strip IP was used on the blue. A Fiskar scallop punch was used on the lavender strip. The yellow buttons on the flower centers has clear glitter glue on top. The blessings is part of a TAC tag tidbit stamp. It is stamped in black and highlighted with clear star gel pen. I added lavender dots to the oval with purple star gel pen. Inside sentiment on this one is from TAC: "Hoping your day... is full of blessings"

Thanks for stopping by. Let me know how you like my cards.

"inchies"

I am entering a new challenge today. It is for tuesday throwdown--using 1" squares in your design. I learned about this one from Catherine Pooler. Check out her site for fabulous ideas and designs. I used white cardstock. The blue plaid is from my scrap file. The side yellow strip made with IP from CB. The sentiment on a 1" white square is TAC "tag tidbits" stamped in blue, then small flowers in light green stampabilities pigment ink That is on a 1 1/4" blue suare and then a 1 1/2 scalloped punched square.

papertrey paperdolls has this easy sketch this week. I used DP from the Luxury Stack (DCWV). It is hard to see but is very pale green with grey swirls and grey flowers. Then pink grograin ribbon, double petal bright pink flower with a "diamond" brad. The sentiment is Studio G stamped with MS pink geranium. All on a white cardstock base.

2S4Y

This is for Kazan's sketch 65 at 2S4Y. I love these bright polka dots from Nana's kids stack (DCWV). Stamp is a clear stamp $1 special at Michael's. I stamped it with StazOn violet, then colored the candle and traced wish with a purple star gel glitter pen and used the gold star pen for the flame. Used Bow Easy to tie the bow. Popped up the scalloped square with pop dots. I think this will be a fun b'day card for any little girl or even any fun lovin' big girl.

papercraft star

I had so much fun with the Simon says challenge at papercraft star this week. Thanks for the clever idea. They gave only the dimensions and suggested embellishment. Check them out. I can see so many possibilities for designs with this and it could be oriented in any direction. The base is cream cardstock. The DP is Holiday Collection Christmas stack (DCWV). Behind the poinsettia petal are scallop and circle punches with Gold star gel pen dots on them. The petal is centered with a gorgeous gold mettalic button. And it is all tied off with gold metallic ribbon. Do I get extra points for 2 ribbons? LOL!! All in all a very glittery card. Now I have to go clean my scanner and work surface with all the shedded glitter.

stamping 411

Thank you stamping411 for putting measurements on your design challenges. Especially those 4 strips in the background. Here is my card for challenge 175. Paper is Reece from TAC. Shapes are Nestibilities labels 8. Sentiment is also TAC. RibbonFX from Hobby Lobby. I thought the buttons mimiced the circle patterned paper. Inside is finished with the same TAC papers. I think the buttons kept the card away from the scanner bed and the picture is not very clear.

Papercraft Star challenge 19

papercraftstar has a picture of a very pretty fall table setting by Martha Stewart for their challenge this week. I used ivory cardstock, brown paper run through Spellbinders Wizard with argyle IP from Cuttlebug. The gold and cream cut outs are Spellbinders Nestibilities Labels 8. Sentiment is PTI sympathies. The oak leaf was stamped with a Stampabilities stamp onto cream cardstock and then cut out. Then it was sponged with studio g sage, then gold, then Stampabilities orange. I anchored it at the side with an orange button on a gold ribbon. I think it very solemn and understated, just appropriate for a sympathy card.

2S4Y

Another great sketch from Laura at 2S4Y. I have been doing some Christmas cards with this paper and needed a thank you so used the last of the pieces for this card. White cardstock, light blue cardstock, designer paper (Luxury Stack by DCWV) and a strip of silver metallic paper. I love that angle cut for the silver strip, adds more dimension. Ribbon from Michaels, bow tied with Bow Easy. Sentiment from TAC, stamped with color box Sky Blue, highlighted with clear star gel pen. Dots on scallops with silver star gel pen. It is a very shimmery card.

mojomonday #162

It is round or square week at mojomonday. I chose a square. The designer paper is from The Luxury Stack (DCWV).  I did the silent night on the computer (Kristen font), punched it out, and glued it to a grey circle. I accented the blue scallop strip with silver wired ribbon. Punched out silver stars for the scallop and the top (hard to see in the pic) of the music which is torn and sponged with StazOn black ink. I helped an 89 year old lady clean some closets. She told me to take anything I wanted. This old hymnal is perfect for those music backgrounds. She also gave me an old literature and poetry book that I am looking forward to using.

Stamping 411 #174

This is for challenge 174 at stamping411. It is a fairly simple card. Creme card stock and both papers are Michael's. Ribbon is "Dashes, Dots, Checks from Michael's. I cut out the tag from a template and stamped with get well soon form TAC and tied it on with green embroidery floss. The silver button is from my 40 yrs worth of button collection. I like the flower paper--you can just center your design over one of the flowers and cut out-pretty easy.

Papercraft Star

papercraft star has a fun challenge this week-thank you theme, Cricut cutout, and metal. I really enjoyed making this card.
The pretty ribbon is Sugar & Spice from Michael's. I doesn't show here but there is some clear sparkle to the flowers. I think the papers are from Hobby Lobby. On the green square, I used the Cuttlebug argyle IP run through the Wizard. Sentiment is from TAC stamped in Color Box sky blue and traced with clear star gel pen. It is anchored with 2 small "diamond" brads (for the metal). The flower is cut with Cricut "George and Basic Shapes" in 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" and secured with a  larger "diamond" brad. I tipped the flower petals with clear glitter glue to add a little more sparkle.
Here is the inside. I added a Cricut flower wtih glitter glue center.

2S4Y

There are 3 great sketches this week at 2S4Y I am getting ready for a craft show so had to try them all. All of these I made from my "leftovers" file--bits a pieces from other cards that are still usable sizes. First is Kazan's 64. The scallop cut is actually 1/2" from the edge and the blue is glued to the back inside of the card. The polka dots and blue are a double sided paper. The dragon fly: stampabilities with sky blue and violet mixed on the stamp. to offset the dots, I use a blue and yellow square design ribbon. Bow is ties with Bow Easy--I love that tool!
The next is Regina's bonus sketch. I had to rotate this design so the images I wanted to use would fit. I did the sentiment on the computer. The teddy is Inkadinkadoo stamp. It and the flower are stamped with Martha Stewart pink geranium. And of course a girl card needs buttons and bows and a little bling with the tracing of the images with a pink star gel pen. Again, the bow is tied with Bow Easy. It is so versatile, has multiple sizes and can use any size ribbon and get a great bow any time.
The 3rd is Rosemarie's sketch. It is a bright cheery birthday card also inspired by one I saw in Card Maker Magazine. Happy Birthday is Stampabilities. Make a wish is one of those $1. specials at JoAnn's. I added bling with 3 acrylic beads from Walmart.
The scanner sure shows up any little flaws. I think I must have had my glasses askew as some of the images are a little out of kilter.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

This card is for stamping 411 challenge. I absolutely love this little snowman nativity stamp set from TAC. It also comes with the holy family, shepherds, wise men, and all the scriptures that go with the story. On the blue cardstock, I used Cuttlebug snowflake IP and then lightly sanded. The glory to God stamp is also TAC. I used yellow stickles and clear star gel pen to add the sparkles.
I'm thinking I may use this for my family cards this year.

Papercraft Star has a challenge for scary halloween cards this week. I am not too into Halloween, especially scary stuff. I usually go for cute. Cute pumpkin was in one of those $1.00 specials at JoAnn's checkout--can't beat that for a deal. I used the pumpkins stamp with Versamark watermark to stamp on the orange background. Colored the main pumpkin with Tombrow and added gold stickles. OOPS looks like I colored out of the lines--fortunately my 3 yr old granddaughter will think that is the way you are supposed to color!LOL!! The spider is cut with Cricut Doodlecharms. I added white gel pen dots for eyes. The inside 3 pumpkins are from the same JoAnn's set. I know my granddaughter will like the card because her Nana made it special just for her.

2S4Y

This card is from sketch at 2S4Y. I recently did a non traditional fall color challenge so decided to try non traditional Christmas colors. The paper reminds me of snow swirls. The snowflake is cutout by Cricut "Joys of the Season" and positioned on scalloped punch circle, then glittered with glitter glue. I'm not too sure about the snowflake brads--maybe too large and distract from snowflake cutout? I am trying looped ribbon--need to still work on that some. And, sometimes goofs work out--I wanted to just stamp "peace on earth (TAC) directly on the card but stamped it on upside down by mistake LOL!!! So, plan B is 2 punched circles with the sentiment on them highlighted with clear star gel pen. Inside I used a swirl stamp that mimics the swirls in the paper.

happy day

Check out stamping411 for the sketch challenge for this card. I have been into halloween and fall cards so just kept the orange/red/gold color scheme going. I stamped flowers on the white strip with Stampabilities orange. I don't know the source for the stamp. I have broken up some sets of stamps. GASP! is that allowed? LOL!! The stamp on the front is Rubber Stampede with Timber Brown StazOn. Sentiment stamp is TAC. I added 2 brass brads (say that 3 times really fast!) for accent. The "have a happy day" could make it for birthday or general cheer.

2 challenges/1card

Trying to do challenges for both Paperdolls and Papercraft Star. One is non traditional fall colors, the other a sketch.
Pattern paper & label: TAC Reese
Cardstock: Brazill in golden tan color
Leaves: traced from a card I did in a class a couple of years ago.
Ribbon from Michaels
I love this sketch layout. And the paper from TAC is going to be really versatile. I am already trying to think of Christmas use for it too.

MoJo 159

I went to a fall festival today and visited several antique shops. I found an old book in one, I have been seeing cards on several blogs using old book pages and wanted to give it a try. Not only is the book old, it had no cover so I don't know what it was but appears to be written in German so hope the text is decent--since I don't speak or read German. Anyway, I cut a portion of a page and stained it with Distress Ink tea dye. Flower paper is from The Rustic Stack (DCWV). Butterfly: Stamp Affair, colored with Tombow markers and edged with the Distress Ink. Tied of with brown organdy bow. I for sure will be using more of the book pages-lots of them, it has 930 pages.

Banners

http://www.papertreypaperdolls.com/ has a challenge to create banners on a card. I actually don't have many PTI products. (Guess I better go shopping huh?) I used Cricuit--Jasmine--to cut out the joy letters from snowflake paper in the Vintage Christmas paper pack from the Paper Studio. Then I mounted them on the diagonal on 1" punched white squares, toned down the bright white by sponging on tea dye distress ink, punched small holes in the edge of the square and mounted them on matching snowflake paper with burlap cord. All this is mounted on white card stock. I like how this turned out and wanted to share--even though it is not PTI products.

Stamping 411 challenge 171

I wanted to try some non traditional colors for Christmas this year. I found this neon green ribbon with silver snowflakes at Hobby Lobby last week and knew it fit the bill.

2S4Y sketch

Sketch challenge at 2S4Y this week is shaped card. I used Nestibilities label 8. The flower is white card stock, cut 3 sizes with Cricut "George", sponged with orange around edges. The flower is secured to a scalloped punch circle with orange brad. The orange flower paper is DeJaViews that I got at Michaels 7 sheets for $1. Got to love that bargain!! Some of the white flowers on the paper are embossed. The scanner doesn't do justice to the pretty orange shade. The thinking of you stamp is PTI sentiments. I put all the layers on a 6x4, folded to 3x4 white cardstock and stamped Get Well Soon (TAC) inside with a flower (PTI sympathy set) stamped in orange on the left side. I think this is a cute little card to cheer a sick friend.

2 challenges

I am able to meet 2 challenges with 1 card today. Papertrey paperdolls (black, white, fall color) and the Saturday sketch 170 from Stamping411. First let me tell you about this black mesh background. I volunteer for the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We take donated items and resell to the public to raise money to help build homes in our county. Yesterday a contractor donated a large box of supplies. This roll of 6" wide mesh was in the box. The manager tossed the roll at me and asked what it was. Well I didn't know but immediately replied "Looks like something good for crafts," The guys all laughed at that. But take it back guys, look what I made with a piece of it. Still don't know what the mesh is for but.... The circle is the very last piece of a favorite black and white. I love red with B&W so that is the accent I chose to use. I think it looks like a fun card to send and made totally from my scrap file. (Except the white cardstock). The buttons I garnered from a large collection that came from my MIL house when she had to give up her home. I love how it turned out. Hope you do too.

Stamping 411 color challenge

I was so surprised when I checked Stamping 411 color challenge this week. It is pink/black/white. I had just finished this card!! I like black and pink together, I think it is so elegant and feminine. The only white is in the polka dots on the ribbon and the music vellum paper. This is another from that pack of printed vellum I found at "Dick's 5 & 10" in Branson, MO. Cool Store! I put a piece of pink swirl paper behind the vellum. The lacy edge is a Martha Stewart punch. For a little bling, I added a "diamond" center to the flower and traced Happy Birthday (from TAC) with a clear glitter pen. I found a great quote to put inside--"If I had a single flower for every times I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.~Claudia Ghandi."

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

This is a thank you for 2S4Y sketch by Laura. This was a fun one to do. I recently purchased the Wizard. What a fun new tool. I used the Cuttlebug argyle impression plate for the card. The printed vellum I found in "Dick's 5 & 10" store in oldtown Branson, MO. (Neat store! You could take several hours to see everything they had crammed in there.) It was a bargain--6 printed sheets for $3. The sentiment is TAC. Inside says "I'm so thankful!" also from TAC. I tied the orange button on with scrapper's floss. I think the colors give it a nice fall look too.
Oh, and another really great shop in Branson is "Scrapbooks Forever" right on the main drag. I could have stayed in there "forever" if not feeling guilty about my husband waiting so patiently outside.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

I found the site: http://www.cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ in CardMaker magazine. It has lots of sketches and ideas. This thank you card is for CPS 185. It is on rust linen cardstock. The lace punch border is Martha Stewert. The pattern paper is from The Luxury Stack. Sentiment stamp is TAC. It is all set off with brown voile ribbon and bow made with Bow Easy. Love that tool--makes perfect bows every time--in 7 different sizes.

This is my CAS card for Paper Dolls Challenge 22 at http://www.papertreypaperdolls.blogspot.com/

Stamp: borders from TAC. The flowers are then traced over with rose star & purple star gelly roll pen. Ribbon: Michaels. Gems look green but actually are pink and purple. Scor-bug used to make outlines on either side of flower borders.

Monday, September 6, 2010

Wow, 2 challenges done--and its only Monday. Not because it's a holiday--I'm retired and everyday can be a holiday!! It's great!! This is for MoJo Monday challenge. It is hard to believe it is September and Christmas is fast approaching. So I decided it is time do do a Christmas theme card. I have a Holiday Bazaar the 1st of Nov so need to get busy making cards. This is on Kraft paper. The design paper is from Holiday Collection Christmas Stack--double sided so no searching for matching papers. The letters are from Cricut Storybook. The tag is cut from stencil and stamped with TAC stamp. I thought this combo looked a little country so I tied the tag on with string. Hope this brings someone a happy smile at Christmas.
I made this card yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I checked http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/ this am and found Laura's sketch 60. I guess creative minds think alike LOL! My card is dark brown cardstock with a layer of tan. That circle print is cut from the "Hemingway" papers from TAC. I used a Martha Stewart punch on the orange strip and then accented with a yellow/orange ribbon. This was the easiest challenge ever since I already had the card done.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Well better late than never. I made this card last night for the 2S4Y sketch but the glitter did not dry enough to get it scanned and posted yesterday. This is a gate fold card. I think the star paper is from Michael's, The Congrat stamp is TLC and stamped on a "banner" anchored by a red brad. I did the you're a star on the computer and then cut it out with a stencil I have. The inside is also a computer generated message.
I think it looks bright and ready for a celebration.

Friday, August 20, 2010

The challenge this week at Papertrey Paperdolls is inspiration from a food container. I looked through some card I already had and found this wedding card I had just made for a neice and thought--"Cool Whip" The container is blue and white and contains white fluffy stuff. So I think this card fits the bill. The card base is blue with a layer of white impressioned swirly paper. The accents (Marvy square scallop punch from TLC) are same blue as base and the sentiment stamp is TLC. Looks yummy!!

Thursday, August 19, 2010

This is for Heather at www.oz-somestamps.com. card sketch 123. Heather I love that you put the dimensions on your sketches. Makes it so easy to whip out a card. This is a get well on lilac cardstock layered with purple and cream. The stamp is "crackle berries" from Stampability. I highlighted the berries with purple star gel glitter pen. The sentiment is from PTI. Then I accented with a purple square paper clip (isn't that cute) and 2 square brads anchor the sentiment. Hope my friend feels better after getting this card.

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

I did a CAS card for 2S4Y sketch this week. I needed a
sympathy card and like to do them in muted colors. I chose tan, brown, and cream with blue accents. The blue paper came with the muted brown writing on it. The
sentiment and butterfly are from PTI.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Two posts in one day and so close together--wow! I finally got to my craft room today to make cards so have been doing the sketch challenges I find on blogs. This is for 2 Sketches 4You 58. I use a lot of butterflies. This one is from a set I found at JoAnn's. I used black ink and stamped it on orange cardstock, cut it out, and used jeweler's wire to make the antenna. I used white cardstock, neon green and orange cardstock layers. Not a color combo I would normally think of but the ribbon is neon green background with orange butterflies. Just matches the card really well. Happy Birthday is from Stampabilities. I used pop dots to adhere the butterfly. Hope you like it.
For MoJO week 151. A friend of my MIL wanted some specific cards for her great grandchildren. I found this cute Danny dinosaur stamp from Stampabilities. And wouldn't you know Hobby Lobby had paper that just coordinated with that. The dino is colored and shaded with Tombow markers. In real life it does not look that contrasted. It is something the scanner picked up. I did the dots in red and then added some glitter with my clear star gelly roll pen. Little boys need bling too!
The orange strip is cut with decorative scissors. I thought it duplicated the backs of the dinos. The inside says " I hope you have a DINO-MITE birthday". The sentiments are all computer generated and are in orange script. I hope her great grandson enjoys his card.--and you too.

Thursday, August 5, 2010

This is for Monday sketch 121 at www.oz-somestamp.com Heather is so great to put up the measurements on her sketches. Makes the creativity flow faster. I used white cardstock with scraps from my paper pile. The sentiment is from TAC--the inside says "filled with wonder & joy" and Happy Birthday.
