Penguin Twofer

Nothing like sliding in just under the wire. If you have not played Darnell's Twofer Challenge this month, you only have 1 more day. The prompt is critters.
I love penguins. I could watch them play around all day as long as I am at the warm zoo and they are in their polar ice room. If you have not seen the Disney documentary production about Penguins in 3-D, try to find it in your area. It is one of their Earth Day productions. So cute!
In my first:
Pete the Penguin is having such a wonderful dream, frolicking in the surf on a warm, sunny tropical isle.
Then whamoo! He wakes up back to reality and cold.
And yes, I know I am mixing my continents. Penguins are at the South Pole where Christmas is in their summer season. Igloos and dark in the winter are at the North Pole. But he is so cute with that igloo.  Oh wait, maybe it wasn't all a dream. Where did that red inner tube come from? And his little pool of water?
I used a bunch of different stamps and dies for these two.
Penguin and palm has lost its label, I think maybe Lawn Fawn.  (MFT, thanks Cat for that info) Igloo from Winnie and Walter. Waves and sun are die cuts from SU. Glitter "snow" paper and stars are from SU
I used bunches of snippets from the scrap box so also submitting to Pixie's Crafty Workshop
Her Mimosa card is so cute. I would love to win the prize she is offering. It would go really great with that tropical theme of my first card.

Gift Card Box

I was so inspired by Julie's treat box I just had to case it.
Here is Julie's box. She has a video and a template on her blog. Very easy to make.
I did a practice one and decided I wanted to put a gift card in mine so had to make another one an inch longer than hers.
So mine is 6 x 6 1/2 and the bottom score line is at 5 1/4. I used a floral double sided paper because it is heavier and holds shape better than the single sided printed papers. I decorated with a white ribbon belly band and attached a gold mini doily and a birthday sentiment.

Piling It On

Tuesday Throwdown challenge is "Pile It On",  adding layers.
I recently purchased an 8x8 paper pack by Papercrafting Paper, Floral Shoppe designs. The double sided papers are all so beautiful.  All these papers are from that paper pack. 4 layers of paper plus sentiment label.
The sentiment and the colored embellishments are from Stampin" Up! The punched label is also SU!.
Inside, I cut 2 coordinating papers to make corners. The sentiment is computer made from my home Hallmark program.
I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

Batty Halloween

Time to make Halloween cards for Send A Smile 4 Kids
Trying to make cute, non-scary cards can be a challenge.
One pumpkin is happy, the other frightened so mixed reactions to bats. The pumpkins are both fussy cut from a scrap of some DSP by Stampin' Up! Bats are from an old small punch. The jar is from SU Jars of love made into a shaker.  The orange banners are all from the stash box. I tilted the jar lid a bit and glued some of the bats as if in flight.
