Alcohol dye spritzing

I tried a new technique today. 8 drops of Pool Party in a small spritzer filled with alcohol gave enough solution to spray 2 pieces of water color paper. I love the look.
SU supplies: Cherry Cobbler card base, then the pool party dyed mat. Snow Place stamps and coordinating dies. The scarf stamp and die are just too big for the baby so I tied a scrap of red/white twine on it for scarf. Sentiment from More Merry Messages. Martha Stewart punch for snowflake which is coated with clear Stickles.
I followed the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

Here is the second card using the alcohol dye spray
The red sled is from a SU card kit from last Christmas.

Charlie Brown

I love Charlie Brown's eternal optimism. I found this Charlie Brown tree by Stampabilities and the sentiment by Print Works Collection at Hobby Lobby. I think the sentiment reflects Charlie Brown's optimism and the tree is just too darn cute!
Kraft card base with SU Christmas paper (left from last year). Natural twine tied at the bottom.

vellum snowflake

There is a new challenge group called Global Design Project with a very talented group of designers. This week's challenge is to Case the Designer. Here is Louise's beautiful card.

Here is my interpretation.
I had this gorgeous vellum snowflake left from one of last year's card kits from SU, The silver cord is from my scrap box. The words are from Ellen Hutson die cut with SU's Silver Glimmer Paper. I stacked them 3 times with white for more substance. The base is Lost Lagoon with Gorgeous Grunge dots in Staz-On White.

Forest Friends

The challenge at The Card Concept is forest friends.

Yesterday in the mail I received some Christmas cards from a charity organization. You probably get them too--cards, calendars, address labels. Well of course I wouldn't think of sending a factory produced Christmas card but there were some cute images I was sure I could use in a recycled way. So here are my forest friends receiving their good little animal gifts from Santa.
To make it really "woodsy" I used a Kraft card base run through Big Shot with Sizzix wood grain impression folder. The white also has the wood grain impression. I anchored the white banner with some Kraft cardstock run through the crimper.. I fussy cut the image from one of the cards and glued it to the white. The striped banner is from my scrap file. Believe (from Little Yellow Bicycle) is die cut 3 times and stacked. It looked like it needed something more so I added bling with a gold glitter punched star. Can't go wrong adding bling, right?

Family

I just received the bundled set Snow Place with die cuts from SU. It is so much fun to play with. Kind of reminds me of paper dolls but with the dies, so much easier to cut out. It is fun trying on all the different parts. There is an adorable penguin in the set also. The card base is DCWV jewel tones card stack. The vertical borders are from the scrap file. The sentiment is in the Snow Place set. Clear sequins in the corner add bling.
This will be for my son and 2 granddaughters. Doesn't the bigger one look like a very proud Papa?
I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches for inspiration.

Fall Cards

Fall is upon us. Mornings are cool, afternoons are warm, and some leaves are turning red, yellow, and orange. So today's cards are in honor of all things fall. I call them my ThanksOween cards.

Starting with Kraft base. 3 banners from my scraps. The little pumpkin on the Tim Holtz tag is an old Inkadinadoo and tied on with white twine. The top card has a Jack-o-Lantern (no label) with Newton from Newton's Nook lurking on top. This is the Newton from the birthday set peeking out of a bag. I colored and then fussy cut just the cat. I cut a green strip with grass scissors, stained it a little brown. Sentiment is also Newton's Nook.
The bottom card is the same with Newton lurking in the grass. Is he stalking stalking something or just taking a nap? I made the pumpkin with 3 punched ovals, highlighted with a darker orange ink, a cut out stem, and attached with some raffia ribbon. Sentiment is The Angel Company stamped in SU chocolate chip.
I think the difference in pictures is that the Halloween one, I used auto fix and the other I played around with light and contrast. Not liking the auto fix so much.
Linking to several challenges with this one
The Kraft Journal theme: pumpkins
Just Us Girls colors: red, yellow, orange
Newton's Nook theme: Halloween

Eye Chart

My daughter is an Optometrist. So when I saw this cute little penguin with glasses, I just had to order it. Here is her birthday card.

The stamp is from Unity Co. I did the eye chart via computer. The papers are all SU. For an accent inside, I colored the penguin's glasses with a marker and stamped them in the corner.
I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

As the stamps also are new I am getting 1 last card in for Darnell's NBUS challenge before tomorrow's deadline.

CAS & Quick

A friend just had a knee replacement surgery. His hobby is woodworking so I think he will really enjoy this sentiment.
I don't remember where I saw this quote. I use it a lot on guy cards. That is real duct tape and a real bandaid. Can't get much quicker than this one.
I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I moved the little corner accent to the right because I needed to cover up a little tear in the oval. So bandaid to the rescue--even in card making.
I needed another get well card--this one for a friend's grandson who had a bike wreck and broke his arm.
This image is actually the mummy from Newton's Nook Halloween set. But I think he works well for the idea of a cast. I chose green and gold colors simply because it is Kaden's school colors. Added another bandaid for the accent piece.  The sentiment is also done on the computer. This one I am also submitting to Tuesday Throwdown for their "For a Child" challenge.

3 trees

I am working on a gift set of homespun, nature, feel cards.
I think Kraft cardstock gives that feel. So that is the base with tree impression folder from SU. The DPs are from SU's last year Christmas collection and trees are punched out with their tree punch. I did a gradual decline of the trees with the left one popped up on foam tape. The gold strip was from my scrap box with sentiment from SU stamped in Cherry Cobbler.
I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch
And I did a second one using the same sketch in landscape orientation with a more traditional look.
I used a Studio G ink with Gorgeous Grunge to make a starry glow to the background. Paper strips are from scraps and 3 trees from SU stamp and punch.

Ghost Kitty

I've been away for a couple of weeks. It is fun to go explore other parts of the country but sure good to get back home to my own bed. Even more, it is good to get back to playing in the craft room. So after 6 loads of laundry today, I finally sat down to make a card and enter some challenges.
Kraft card base, SU papers, Newton's Nook image and sentiments. Isn't that ghost kitty just the cutest? The google eyes make him look a little bit scary but not too much. SU speech bubble die for the "boo" popped up on foam tape.
Challenges:
The Kraft Journal: autumn
Mojo Monday sketch

djkardkreations.com NBUS: speech bubble die from SU

I am also sending this to Send a Smile 4 Kids so will enter it in their Halloween challenge.
