Buttons and Bows

The challenge from The Kraft Journal is buttons and bows. I received the wreath and die set from SU today and just had to try it out.
The Kraft cardstock was run through Big Shot with a "brick wall" Tim Holtz impression folder. I sponged on some white dye to give it a weathered look. That made my fireplace wall just ready for a wreath to be hung. I stamped the wreath leaves with SU lucky limeade and then Tim Holtz peeled paint distress ink. The set comes with 2 step stamps to get that contrast look. Then I cut the wreath with the die cut in the set. Instead of stamping on berries which is part of the set, I did groups of 3 tiny red buttons. Tied a bow with red satin ribbon and secured it with glue dot. The sentiment is also SU done in real red.

Newton"s Antics

I love this cute cat named Newton from Newton's Nook designs. Can you just visualize a cat jumping on the mantle and investigating the wreath hanging there? My cat once got his neck caught on the handle of a basket of potpourri and proceeded to run around the house scattering potpourri everywhere!!
I used this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

The cat & wreath from Newton's Nook were stamped on white cardstock, colored with pencils and then fussy cut--and believe me that made for some really fussy cutting! Banners are from SU scraps punched with the tiny banner punch. The sentiment is also from Newton's Nook, punched wtih a couple of label punches from SU. The wood IF from Cuttlebug reminds me of wood paneling. I used a strip of "brick" paper to make the fireplace and then hung the wreath above it.

Multiple Inspirations

I have been working on a set of Kraft based cards with SU Under The Tree specialty paper. Inspiration from the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch allowed me to use up some of the scraps left from other cards.
Here is the sketch:

And my card:
I was also inspired by what Brian King did with a vellum circle behind a tree. The tree is one of the SU papers punched with their tree punch. Sentiment outside and inside are from More Merry Wishes.
Here is the inside trimmed with a strip of the paper from which I punched the tree.
Here is a shot of some of the other Kraft based cards
The star card on the far right is a total case from my SU Demonstrator Lee Conrey. So, you can see I was inspired a lot from my blog surfing this morning.

Halloween Turtle

We take a break from the Christmas card flurry to bring you a Halloween theme for sketch challenge from The Kraft Journal

My 7 yr old grandson is a big Ninja Turtle fan. I learned how to do the turtles from fellow blogger Cheryl at Paper Panacea, See her card and tutorial  here. It is awesome. So here is my Halloween Turtle card
I used a Kraft card base--since it is a Kraft challenge. The DP is from SU. I did both sentiments on the computer and free hand cut out the speech bubble. The bats are done with a Fiskar punch. On the inside, I used a hexagon IF from Sizzix on black to mimic a turtle back and then anchored by sentiment with purple banners like the turtle's mask.
Who can tell me which turtle wears a purple mask? Guess I'll have to ask Owen that one.

Okay, I'll confess, I also made a Christmas card with this sketch.

That tree is a stamp and punch combo new in the 2014 SU Holiday Catalogue.

Christmas Chickies

I'm needing to get some Holiday cards made. I've been looking at this picture from The Card Concept
thinking how can I use those colors for a Christmas card.

After looking through Christmas stamps, I found one from DaNami that would just work with these colors.
So I have this CAS card. The chickies, trees. and gifts are colored with pencils. The greeting is stamped with Lucky Limeade from SU. I used a clear star gel pen on the dots.
That was so quick and easy, I have time for making a couple more.

Christmas Trees

Hooray, my first Christmas card!!! I received a "shares" package from my SU Demonstrator and recently purchased the Festival of Trees stamp set and punch. So I had to break it all out and give them a spin. The sentiment is from the Christmas Bliss set. If you get really close and squint, you can see the silver glitter paper punched stars at the tree tops. Also added more bling with 3 red sequins at the bottom and highlighted the red dots on the trees with star gel pen.

Inside is a stamped sentiment and a little row of trees both from the Christmas Bliss set.

I was inspired by this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

It won't qualify for a prize as their theme is back to school. I sent my grandkids their back to school cards a few weeks ago. And I really really need to get started on Holiday cards.

I am off to Lake Tahoe for a week so will really have to dive into all the Christmas supplies when I get back.

Baby Girl

For Tuesday Throwdown challenge of Sweet Little One.
DP is from SU. I love those pretty pastel polka dots. The Cuttlebug impression folder just mimics those dots so well. The yellow is a Nesties label and impression folder from SU for the oval dots.  Sentiment is from SU and stamped in a Studio G blush and punched out with SU punch. 2 little pink candy dots from SU accent the sides. And all tied together with a white satin bow.
I am casing this gorgeous card from Megan at I Teach Stamping. She posted this card a long time ago and I loved it so much I printed it out so I could use it for inspiration sometime.
